My 7 month old , now adolescent, boy is seemingly infatuated with his dog beds. How much of the bed humping is normal? He just cant leave them alone. We are currently working on Alpha training for us as owners as he paid little attention to our commands and it was getting out of control. Could the humping be dominance toward something as he is losing his dominance over us? thanks for all your suggestions in the past regarding biting and mental exercise.

I doubt it is dominance. I would guess it might be boredom, or frustration, or he flat just likes it. I would remove the dog beds for now and give him a quilt or blanket to sleep on. I would not let him continue the behavior as it could just become habit. He might also be doing it because he knows it gets your attention, so don't make a big deal of it. Just get him and redirect to some acceptable behavior like chewing on a good bone.

interesting that you mentioned this. Our 2 year old female Luna, has been spayed since she was 6 months old, and can remember as long as we've had her she has always humped 1 particular thing and that thing only...he fluffy kirkland dog bed. She doesn't do it to anything else, and it doesn't bother us just gives us a good laugh so we haven't done anything about it....figure for her she just likes it.
