A recent post got us talking about some of our dogs' antics that make them want us to sometimes pull our hair out...but we love them so much still :) I thought, why not make a thread where we can post them as they happen.

Just a small one for today... while hubbs and I were exploring where a local dam is being restored (near the dog park, we just ventured a bit)...Bella managed to find herself the most foul smelling mud/water puddle to have a party in. She was so thrilled and proud of her find. Probably just as excited to get a bath afterward. Now my car smells of pungent mud, and I had the added benefit of having the scrub the tub and bathroom down after her bath. Delightful :)

Chelsea continues to bury/hide the (expensive!) antlers and Nylabones I buy for Humphrey. She wouldn't be caught dead chewing on one, but she makes sure he can't have them. This morning I 1) found a tan Nylabone, 2) found an old white Nylabone in the gravel--God knows how long it had been there (sticking out it looked like an emerging skeleton!) and 3) discovered that the OTHER tan Nylabone had been snitched off the sofa and disappeared. Over the long weekend I'm going to try to find some of the antlers but the shrubbery is pretty dense.

Ringo was really trying to help me with the groceries for Thanksgiving. He thought he should be allowed to test the turkey prior to putting it in the frig. Thank goodness I knew he would try to help. He gave that, but mom I am such a good boy look.

@vnrose - What a typical lady :) Good luck with your search. It's probably a fun game for her. Now she'll have an abundance of choices again for hide and seek.

@Texasbelle - My husband has been cleaning his deer tonight. Bella was going nuts because I wouldn't let her hang out in the garage with him. Now he's finished and sealing it all in the kitchen. She hasn't left the room just HOPING a bit or piece will make its way to the floor. Glad you will get to serve a tooth hole free turkey :)

The other day on the job I am working on. Max was hanging out with the crew. I was working in the back of the house and Max went around to the front of the house where the other men were working. A short while later I here one of the men laughing & saying "max" and it was long after max was back by me with the mans water bottle just a throwing it up in the air and having a blast ! Not long after that he grabs a rag I was cleaning with & off he went . Next thing I see him running around with a slipper he found in the peoples garage......... next step was he had to go on time out ! They are funny little creatures !

I have a one-year old daughter who thinks it's hilarious to feed the dogs. They hardly ever get people food, only in their dishes on the floor, but since learning that the smallest human in our family often has tasty treats, you can always find Atlas and Sachi hanging out around the highchair. I might as well buy them their own box of arrowroot cookies, they've eaten so many of them. And the more the kid giggles and holds out the cookie, the more they think it's okay.

My Maple always has to have something in her mouth.  We were at an agility trial and staying in a hotel.  We had gone out to the store and purchased a few things and we were walking in.  You have to understand Maple LOVES hotels.  It was cold and I had a scarf around my neck.  I am holding two leashes and two bags of things bought at the store and my purse.  Maple in her excitement wants to grab something and well she grabbed my scarf I had tied around my neck.  I did not want to drop the bags as they had glass items in them and our food.  Did not want to drop the leashes as someone may come out of one of the rooms and there would be loose dogs.  My daughter and friend were walking ahead of me, they turned around and were laughing so hard at the scene they could not seem to bring themselves to help me.  They were only wishing they had videoed it.  I am thankful they did not.

That seems to be Max's favorite game :) I bet he is a hoot.

Tank, our friend's 1.5 year old daughter has decided that it is lots of fun to share everything she has with Bella (who also does not get people food straight from people lol). She will grab a cracker and walk right over to Bella and hand it to her. Bella takes it ever so gently. We don't have kids yet, but this little one is great practice for Bella. At camp this past weekend Bella was laying on the floor and the little one was laying all over her...shouting "DOGGY" in her face, and petting her ears. Bella stayed completely content, little tail bobbing, but no need to get all excitable. Makes me proud of her :)

@smatulewicz, it really is good practice! I was nervous at first with Atlas (our GSP) around the baby, since he automatically took an interest in her. The only time I've heard him warn her was when she got a little too close to his junk, which was our fault, not his. We're training our daughter to be "gentle" around the dogs, and we're training the dogs to "go slow" around the kid. Too funny. It's not always easy trying to get our GSP to slow down...LOL.

My routine for Hannas dinner is to place one cup of Taste of the wild  to soak in some warm water while I cut up some baked chicken and microwave it for 44 seconds . drain and mix . While shes eating I fix my dinner . I had a  sandwich made  up on the counter and had gone to get my cofee cup . When I returned the sandwich  had dissapeared.. I found it half eaten on the floor .  I  was hungry too!

I thought of Bella two days ago. I had put Hanna in the truck , which I do every time she starts sassing me . As we were leaving my work site I reached for my keys on the floor board and  grabbed a bunch of goo.  I douced my keys in her water bucket. When I got home I realized she had hurled  deer scat she'd devoured  in her time on lead . (befor she started her sassy pants routine.)

Lol oh boy! At least rolling in wild animal poo can't come back to haunt later like eating it can ;) though, she did wake us at 3 am the other morning throwing up what appeared to be a pinecone. She loved them as a pup but they were too big to eat. Now she is bigger and rediscovered their awesomeness, and they are small enough to break up and go down. Have been monitoring it now. Only her second time being vomit sick. She is so sad and needy after it just breaks my heart.

Hanna just wanted her early thanksgiving day treat...your sandwich would have to do :)

Bugsy is fairly ridiculous (<=understatement) but one thing is always a given; you will be greeted with a full mouth. I have many pictures of the silliness of multiple items in his mouth but this may have been the most mind-boggling

This is the largest kong XXL plus a zogoflex bone plus another rubber bone. :)

Just yesterday I came home and he had a destuffed elephant, an everlasting fun ball, and a wubba rabbit in his mouth. In a pinch he'll grab anything close by - shoes, magazine, coat, etc

haha love it! What talent! Bella has just start recently started attempting grabbing more than one toy, but she has only managed two at a time (and usually because a nylabone is stuck to a plush toy has she managed to get three). She is SO proud of herself when she does. She too always greets us at the door with a toy in mouth. I got so tickled one day I came upstairs through the basement which I don't usually do. She used to seeing me come up the front steps outside. So, I peeked around the corner and caught her looking in his toy bin trying to make the quick but difficult decision on just which toy she should go with. When she saw me, she headed my way for a quick greeting but had to return to her toy box to complete the task. Then, a joyous celebratory run around the table.

Its that exact look as to why I spend so much time smooching. Awe Bugsy what a cuty .You stole my heart with just one glance.

I got nervous when I read Max was in the garage. Yesterday Hanna  was happily playing and tossing around her bully stick she had buried a while ago. I made the lead and it was vise crimped  so it slipped out of the ferrule . She didn't realize it till I came over and she quickly bolted over to the nieghbors to play with three electric fence dogs. As I got there she slipped into the garage. Since her poisoning no garage is safe any more.

One of Bella's worst habits (but cracks us up) is that after breakfast and dinner...she comes in the living room and wipes her face on the furniture. Luckily she has water before so I think if anything is actually wiping off it is more water than oil. Tonight, I busted her literally wiping her muzzle in between two couch pillows. Ooooo that crazy girl!

New to the forum.

My 8 month old GSP Hank that loves to shred plastic bags, paper bags, the bag that contains his food. Makes trying to get any groceries in the house difficult because he will shred the bags even if there is stuff in them.

Ok, here is the challenge for you guys. So, no one has posted anything I haven't seen before. Anyone have creative shorthairs? I will throw one out to get the ball rolling. I thought Ringo was pretty funny because he liked to jump and hang from the top of the 6 ft fence and look over, but his niece one upped him. When Fauna was little Ringo taught her to look over the fence with him. I am sure walkers were always surprised to see two heads pop up and look at them, but now that Fauna is older and stronger she literally jumps up onto the top and balances there. She could easily go over, but she has no desire to go over. My neighbors have all come to tell me thinking I would be worried, but I have known for awhile she was doing it and have watched her with plans to fix the issue if she ever went over. Since she never has I quit worrying about it and enjoy the neighbors stories. A couple months ago though I was talking to Ringo's breeder and told her about their fence antics. She laughed and told me Ringo's granddad who is Fauna's great grandpa used to walk on top of their 6 foot fence, but never went over. Seems maybe this is a genetic trait. I call it the mountain goat and kangaroo genes. Halo has even shown the jumping and climbing ability. It is pretty funny when you are outside the fence and witness it.

Saturday night I made some fleece tug toys for Zoe's friends for Christmas. She sat and watched me make them. Never once tried to play with them or steal them from me. I picked them up and put them in a grocery bag. When I came home last night, she ran up to me with one in her mouth and the others scattered all over the front room. My husband was at the camp all weekend and didn't realize I had made them for her friends. Apparently when he went to take a shower she got into them and emptied the bag. She kept bringing them to him one by one and they were all alike so he thought it was the same one. All I could do was laugh.
