Not sure the new pup is getting on with the Acana. Her stools are very loose. Not watery diarhea, more like sloppy pudding. She did a perfectly normal poo after breakfast this morning but had done a sloppy one just now after lunch.

She's being fed 3 times a day and having a lot less that the guidelines stated on the bag.

Is it time to try somethig else or should I give her a little longer to see if she will get used to it?

Tis a shame because Leos is doing really well on the Acana. He had loose stool on Orijen. Really don't want to be feeding different foods long term.

I always kept them on it at least a month... I know stools can be loose if they are being fed too much... the bag is just guidelines so even if you are feeding less than that you might want to do even a tad bit less... also you could probably go to 2 feedings instead of 3...

so she did another normal poop after her late afternoon feed.

I know the details on the bag are just guidelines but it states 420g per day. I'm now only giving her 280g a day. Is that really enough and should I really reduce it even more?

if i drop to 2 feeds a day 140g per feed is too much for her (i think) so is 100g or 120g twice a day enough?

so confusing lol

yes confusing cuz I am used to cups not grams lol :)

It is hard to say if you should drop it more cuz she is a growing puppy and the best judge is on how they look...

I think if you want to switch to 2 times I would go with 120g each serving and see how that goes... you can always up it as needed if the stools start looking nice...

I had the same issue with Zoe when she was a pup and found that she did not tolerate foods that were chicken based.  I now feed both her and Archer the Acana Regionals and alternate between the 3 flavors that don't have the chicken and they are both doing great on it.

1 cup = 120g. So 2 cups a day. Well when I weigh out a cup it's about 130g but it states 120g per cup.

I don't think it's a chicken issue as the food (bad food) she was on before was chicken based.

Starting tomorrow i'll put her on 2 feeds a day. A cup per feed and see how she goes.

Actually, thinking about it.....Leos is 18 months old and all tough he's not technically a growing pup any more he's only on 3 to 3 and a half cups a day at 28kg. Perhaps 2 cups a day is too much for a 10kg pup.

You are also feeding her a much better food than she was getting before, so it may take her some getting used too and I doubt she will need as much of it. I would go by how she looks and not how much she is eating.

I think 2 cups a day sounds like a good place to start... and more time to adjust...
