I was asked for this recipe and thought I would post here as several have issues with doggy travel sickness. I took a regular candy recipe and modified it a bit to increase peppermint. Fauna loved these candies after I got her to eat the first one, and there is nothing in them to hurt a dog. 

1/3 c light Karo syrup

1/4 c butter (I used real butter)

4 c confectioners sugar sifted

9 tsp peppermint

Food coloring if you want ccolor combine and beat Karo, butter, and extract. Gradually add 2 cups sugar. Stir in as much remaining sugar as you can with spoon until smooth. Turn out on confectioners sugar coated surface. Knead in enough remaining sugar to make stiff dough that is smooth. Add in food coloring now if you want colored candy ( just 2 drops). Shape into 3/4 inch balls. Place on wax paper. Press with fork. Let dry. Makes about 75. I also keep the candy in the fridge.

i gave one candy about 30 minutes before trip, and gave another candy whenever Fauna would start to drool.

 Also, humans like these candies too.
