We're still awaiting news on whether Keely's mum is expecting another litter, but being me (worrying, overthinking, organising etc ) i've been thinking about names. We are hoping for a girl, potentially a liver/white ticked but doesnt really matter. I always feel that a name jumps out when you see your pup but we've always had a few in mind beforehand and have picked one of those both times.
So instead of 2 or 3 weeks to thinks about it, this time we have approx 3 months and i was wondering if you could all maybe shout out some name ideas. We do have a few that we like, most of them being made up or scottish place names, but we also like the idea of a wildlife species or xmas theme (litter should be due on the 23rd december). We have a few ideas (quite like Holly). Any other ideas guys? |

| Just my opinion, but the names Holly and Keely go nicely together. Ivy is another holiday one ... |

I was going to throw Holly out there too when I read about Christmas, but realized you already did Noel would be beautiful as well. Reindeer names? Vixen Vix for short would be cute. I was going to give away what I'll name our next, but hubby always gets mad at me for doing that because I give away our ideas LOL. (Like Bella ended up being terribly original and all). I'll say it anyway. Next one, if GSP, I'm naming Leica (pronounced Like-uh). It is a German brand of camera. |

Christmas - Holly, Ivy, Bell (spelled Belle) Blizzard, Carol, Joy, Merry, Faith, Eve, Hope. Scottish Tows/villages names - Leith, Perth, Elie, Paisley, Elgin, Kelso, Leven, Ellen (as in Port Ellen), Huntly, Largo. Species - Mouse (I think that's cute lol), Hyrax, Pika, Axis, Equus, Nasua, Cygnes, this list is endless and to be honest (in my opinion) a little "out there" lol. Something to think about anyway. |

I heard a good commercial yesterday with good dog names - Leiny, and Kugal (it was for Lienenkugel). My cousin has a Chocolate lab named Guinness (I know - that's more Irish...). How about Innis, or Gunn? OOH! I like that! I may use those !!
Innis and Keely? Gunn and Keely? Actually, Keely and Gunn sounds like a really good law firm (LOL!)
Of course, (and this may be a little Cliche...) you may go with Caoilinn - in keeping with a theme. |

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd |

Oohh, i feel really guilty now...i wasnt going to say ALL of the names we were thinking about in case someone nicked them, but seeing as Smatulewicz and Todd are giving some of their's up.... okay, here goes - Sanna (as in Sanna Bay in NW Scotland like Kintra Bay), Tarka (as in Tarka the otter), Toura (kinda like Tourer - pretty apt for us ), Jurni (or Journey, for the same reason). We love Moss, and very nearly chose that for Kintra!
Keanmu - really like the idea of Merry - seems to sum up the gsp approach to life, really love that!! Cant call her Carol as that's my name and OH may get confused...or me and the dug will get confused I was also born in Paisley. Like Ellen because we love Port Ellen, near Kintra Bay on Islay (really love that idea - thanks ). Huntly's a great name!
Tgatto - Caolinn sounds really nice (had to look it up )!
Kpwlee - Lagavulin's a bit of a mouthful - my dad's extremely familiar with that name Love the Islay theme again! |

Yeah, we have a boston named Bella! I kinda like, uh, Leica (duh) . Problem with a hunting dog named as such, as I can see how the name could be confusing in the field. Too many dogs (as I hear in the field) have their names somehow tied to profanity. "GET OVER HERE LEICA (Like a) DAMN IT!" (or other profanity). See, confusing. On the other hand, there is a nice Iambic rhythm to it...

| I've always like the name Haley, but I have a new favorite because I met this BEAUTIFUL GSP girl in our obedience class! She is the litter mate of Kaido and Maybrie, and I would take her in a a heart beat!! She has the most beautiful little prance, and beautifully colored, and SUPER sweet, just like Maybrie. She is going to show her! Her name is Gretchin! I fell in love with her name because it just fit her! I think you will know as soon as you see her/him! |

| I forgot to say good luck, and congratulations! I hope you get the little girl you are hoping for, but all will be just fine if it happens to be a boy too. Promise! They are super sweet, and big babies! |

Aw, I think this is the fun part! And look at all the suggestions you have! I totally agree that the name will come to you after being with the pup. I had two names for Nixie picked before hand and Nixie fit like a glove. I'll definitely be thinking of names for you especially if you're gonna put out that kind of deal. |

Hey, Tgatto, Leica wasn't up for grabs...I was just sharing LOL j/k. I highly doubt another GSP is anywhere in our near future to be name stingy. I like Sanna and Huntly! I'm kind of a believer in dog names having the nice vowel ending so their name is easily differentiated from the bulk of the one syllable commands. Plus, they just roll off the tongue nice (and you always come up with "for short" names anyway so might as well go with a longer one to start. Half the time I'm all the way down to just "B" with Bella lol). Point, I love Moss as well, but maybe something cute like Mosslie, Moss for short |

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions - keep em coming!! And the offer stands although i'm not sure you would all like the Lagavulin part, not a whisky fan myself
Usually after we've picked a pup we start to scare the neighbours cos we spend an hour or so shouting out the names on the shortlist to see how easy they are to shout loud if need be - that's probably why we didnt choose Moss the last 2 times because i feel the same about the one-syllable thing, it's so much easier with 2 syllables. We did consider Mossy but OH didnt like it! Also like Asta, Torrin, Poppy and Coco - this list will be HUGE by the time we go to pick the pup |

| the funny thing about names is they are with you forever... I named my kids when they were still in my tummy that way I could talk to them... but my pups I didn't name till I had them picked out and I had seen them, lol! |

I am totally OK with winning a bottle of Lagavulin LOL Honestly I could never pick the name before I had the pup - I might be able to narrow it down to a few but I think it needs to fit them individually. I am reminded of when I was young I decided I wanted a pet turtle and I already had the name "Herbie" (no I don't recall why I knew the name I wanted). I went through a bunch of turtles before one truly looked like a Herbie to me. |
