Each year since max was hatched  I try to take him on what I term an adventure & yesterday we drove about 2hrs from home to a place called connecticut hill. Having read about it before as being a great place to find grouse. Which is right up max's alley  We downloaded diections from map quest (which got us close) then after (3) stop's for more directions found the place with no road markers anywhere & they all seemed to connect to each other. All the cover looked exactly the same (Groueseee) Now it's getting late 9:30 or so & the sun is coming up strong & thing's are drying out I say to max let's hop in here. Not 5 min in max slam's on point bird get up (I miss)  after that nothing saw some old woodcock splatter That was it . This is the first management area we have hunted in NY that was poorly marked & has a great reputation for being loaded with grouse.  It was a fun day in all and max had a blast !
