I can't get the search function to work on my computer, so I apologize if this question has already been discussed.
Our GSP, Jeta, is 6 months old and we want to be ready before her first heat with diapers. What have you found that works for you?
She is an obsessive chewer so I need something strong and don't want to resort to trial and error during her cycle.
Thanks! Should I have posted this on the "breeding" board?

| We found the tabs on disposables to break far too easily. Saved a lot of headaches after by switching to cloth/washable diapers. Size medium also fit her well, and we used panty liners. I also found if she had some time to be free of the diapers and able to clean herself she was less apt to want to chew at the diaper. We also purchased two so one was always washed and ready to go. Bella hit maturity at 11 months. |

We used the Simple Solutions brand just because that is what our local feed/pet supply store sold. http://www.valuepetsupplies.com/simple-solution/diapers/simple-solution-washable-diaper-medium.html They are actually several dollars cheaper on this link than what we paid. And remember, don't waste the $6-8 dollars on the liners that are sold by these same pet brands. I was hitting myself in the head when it dawned me I could have gone to the pharmacy or any ole store and gotten a 99 cent thing of panty liners lol. |

I just use depends for my female dog . . . and wrap duct tape around it to keep it on. I mean, really, you can get some really cute duct tape these days . . . and my gosh, it is just one more use for it. We are in Louisiana and I saw some for our college team, LSU.

After buying a nice pair of fancy pants and having them destroyed the first day I went with little boys underwear an put in panty liners.

| We used these cloth diapers meant for dogs and bought them at Pet Supplies Plus - they are expensive but you can wash them and the velcro tabs on them are very strong and they are very adjustable. I put pads in them - just the regular women's ones. I don't remember what they are called and I gave them to my son for his dog who is old and having peeing problems. |

Before we bought the washable, I too had to tape the disposables on LOL. I didn't mention it because I was worried it sounded horrible. Happy to know I'm not the only one who had to bring out the tape |

| I wonder if you could use vet wrap instead of tape. It would certainly be easier to get on and off and would be reusable. |

| That would be a much better option. The tape came out one night after business hours. Husband had told me there were no cloth diapers at the store. I went the next day and bought two pair. Imagine that... lol |

When my older dog Maple was still intact, I would use the cloth type for dogs that had the velcro. It never bothered her to wear anything so she never tried to pull them off. My puppy Java though, does not want to wear pants . . . hence the depends with the duct tape. She is unable to pull the duct tape off. When it is time to let her go out, I just cut them off.
If your dog does not pull them off, I would just use the washable kind, but if they are opposed to wearing them, I find the duct tape to be too much work for them to get off. Not that she did not grab ahold of them and make plenty of circles to try and pull them off. I laughed so hard. She was so dizzy when she stopped. If only I had my phone with me that first time she was wearing them. |

| The brand I mentioned to you, Bella did get frustrated one day (I think due to the overwhelming urge to clean herself), and attempted to chew them off. She made some decent ground on one of the velcro tabs, but not enough to get them off. Since we were at work and she had a couple of hours to work at it, and judging by the amount they were drenched from her drool I think she did work pretty hard, but they were still on and the velcro portion held (she only ripped the cloth portion). So, I think they are pretty hardy. Also, that pair was a size large and had some excess tab that stuck out as a result. Once I bought the medium, they fit much better and she never chewed at that pair. |
