I have an 8 week old pup. Does anyone crate their puppies during the night and during the day while at work or have any advice on how to handle such a situation?

Yes, but remember at that age they can only go a couple of hours and then they need to go outside to pee. At that age I used an xpen and put a litter box down for them to potty if they needed to during the day. At night I crate mine and have the crate next to the bed. At about 3 to 4 months they will be able to get out of the xpen, so I crate them during the day at that point. The good news is by then they can go allot longer without needing to potty. I would recommend though that if you can, come home for lunch so you can let the little guy out and have some play time. Also at that age he should be still eating 3 meals.

Also where does everyone keep your crates in the house?

I have mine in the bedroom. When they are puppies the puppy crate is right next to my side of the bed. Later I move them to their permanent location. Right now my dogs sleep on dog beds unless they want to get in their crate. They are all old enough to choose where they want to sleep. Usually I have at least one in my bed with me at night and sometimes two.

When I have a puppy, I always have two crates, one in the bedroom and the other in the kitchen.  If I cannot keep my attention on the puppy, usually when I am cooking, sleeping, etc., the puppy is crated.  Makes it alot easier to potty train too.  Also keeps them out of mischief when they do not have my undivided attention.

Also recommend searching on you tube "crate games".  It is a fun game to play with your puppy so that they will love to run into the crate.

Roz.
