It's most definitely Autumn in Lake Superior land. (Yea, I threw this one just to boast about how awesomely gorgeous it is here lol). So that means, it's bird season. Bella went on her first hunt with the hubbs. I tagged along to enjoy a day on the four wheeler, the fall color, and seeing how my girl would do at the task.

Her first partridge. She's beaming ;)

Sporting her makeshift hunter orange vest. It didn't look incredibly doggy trendy, but it did the trick.

Fun day had by all. I'll give you one guess on who crashed HARD the minute we got home ;)

Awesome pics and story. Grouse are some of my favorite birds to hunt. She's a good looking dog and a great hunter by the looks of it, congrats.

The worst day of hunting is better than the best day at work.

Good work.

Thanks guys. She has some things to continue learning, but we all had a blast. Guns don't phase her a bit. We need to work on slowing her down a bit and understanding she's working (not out for a mad dash woods run like she's used to in the woods) and won't get left behind. If she heard the fourwheeler rev at all she would leave her scent and come running back. Retrieves are flawless, but she definitely doesn't want it in her mouth any longer than it has to be. She knows she can't bite into it and I think it's almost too much to bare for her lol. It took one bird for her to realize that's what we wanted of her. That's what we were hoping for. Now we'll fine tune more.

The pic of her with her first bird just makes me smile because I'm not sure she was convinced as to WHY she was getting so much attention and praises, but she obviously ate it up....and was just as happy as could be. That pic shows that perfectly.

Thanks! We are lucky to have her :) yes, I obviously tagged along for the photo opps, not the hunting. Though since she brought them to me a couple of times (hubby humor) I was forced to oblige and take them from her. I'm quite proud of myself lol. And since I set up the photo of her and the three birds, I was left alone to carry all three back to camp...hubbs snuck a picture. Maybe I should post proof I handled them all by myself lol
