"Mak" was adopted from the pound about two months ago and to me i think they miss clasifyed him as a GSP and Dalmation mix. i can see why they did it bc they noticed his blueish black tic on his back half. but either way im trying to figure out how to get him certifyed GSP. so that when he meets his GF his pups will not be considered Mutts. he does get feild work and has a solid point that pairs fiantactic with his strong nose. if anyone has info on how to get this problem fix please feel free to let me know. thanks, william

You can't get it fixed. And why on earth would you want to breed a dog in which you have no clue about his pedigree or history? Forget breeding him an just enjoy him as a pet.

William I own a mutt who I love more than I could have imagined but breeding is serious business. Breeding an 'unknown' (meaning you have no idea what his pedigree is - even if he is all GSP you don't know the lines) is irresponsible. You only create more dogs that are homeless or in need. RESPONSIBLE breeding is a wonderful thing but it can only be done when you know the lines of both sire and dam. Lines give you a history of their health, drives, size, conformation, temperament etc. Please don't breed your boy - get him neutered and enjoy him. The world doesn't need more carelessly bred dogs

Hi William, I'm curious what pound you got Mak from? I'm surprised the pound let you adopt a dog that wasn't fixed. Cathy

No shelters where we live would adopt out dogs that weren't fixed. Both of ours are "rescues" but both came from private homes - one through a divorce case and then in foster after the divorce and the other from people who turned into preppers and couldn't afford to keep her cuz she kept killing all their livestock. Both were not fixed when we got them. We have papers on Windsor but not on Velvet but Velvet seems to have the same GSP traits like the rest of 'em and she is our liver girl. We don't breed them - got her fixed but she is my first female dog and last year was my first time watching a female dog go through a heat and there were some moments where I thought Ut Ohhhhh, she's preggers cuz she wasn't fixed then. I was almost hoping for puppies but really, I had no idea what I'd be getting myself into. If that happened, I wouldn't try to make money off them since she had no papers and knowing me, I'd have a hard time trying to give any of the puppies away. Glad it turned out the way it did. Never preggers and we got her fixed. Windsor is in tact and he's fine that way. We had an appt to get him neutered but we called and cancelled that morning. Not like we want to breed him but we like him the way he is and he has no contact with other dogs except for Velvet - we don't do dog parks. We go for hikes in the state forests we have here - just us and the two of them - that's it. If you were to breed a mix, I don't see a whole lot of money being made - those are the kind of pups, although I am sure they are as cute as any other put, won't bring in any money, unless you want puppies to keep for yourself.
