I have owned GSPs for the last 30+ years as pets. I have 3 of my own. For the last 4 years I have been involved with GSP rescue. It has given me the opportunity to see and be involved with a lot of wonderful dogs.
More and more I see GSP that have the look coloring and personality of the English Pointers. They are lighter in color, more lightly built, faster, a bit less rugged, have more stamina, they range further from you, they seem to have more a mind of their own; a few even behave more like a Fox Hound than GSP.
Please don't get me wrong I like them just as much. Just as wonderful, But...
These new dogs resemble less what I considered the classic GSP that I saw in the past, and still prevalent in Europe.
I have herd someone refer to these as 'American Pointer'
Am I just imagining?
Are more breeders selecting for this new look because it has become popular?
I am new here so if this has been discussed, please 'point'
me in the right direction.
