Well Binni decided to dig her way out of the yard today. She has been digging all through the yard and along the fence. (only when we are not watching her). We fill in all of her holes and she just digs a new one. I'm very thankful she didn't run off. She was standing in our neighbor's driveway looking very nervous because she was unable to get back into the yard. Niko was barking and crying- so I knew something was up!
Any suggestions to stop her from digging? She is not left unattended in the yard fir a long period of time. The two dogs always go out together as have PLENTY of toys to play with outside |

I like our e-fence. We have the Innotek contain & train. We have not had an escapee since we installed it. |

| You can try putting poop in the hole and covering it. She probably won't dig in that spot again, but she might dig somewhere else. |

| Fortunately, years ago when I had my fence put in, I had it buried about 4-5 inches underground. Is there any way you might be able to extend something below the fence line. I'm thinking like maybe the edging they put along drives, etc. to keep the grass back. Of course, I have no idea how large your fenced area is so cost could be a problem no matter what you tried. |

I had the same problem with Zoe digging holes and trenches in the back yard (Archer helped a little too). One night I was talking to my parents and said I have got to find a way to get them to stop digging before they dig out from under the fence or completely ruin my back yard!
I know this is going to sound absolutely crazy (my dad came up with this idea) - a blow horn like you have at sporting events. Since they are only left in the backyard when I'm at home, my dad suggested to keep an eye on them and if I saw her digging to blow the horn and see what would happen. Well the first time I caught her and blew the horn you would have thought somebody lit a firecracker under her butt! It definitely diverted her attention from the hole she was digging and she came running into the house. She eventually went back to her hole and everytime I caught her in the act, I would blow the horn - it only took a few times before she caught on that digging meant a loud noise she didn't like.
Every once in a while I'll catch her starting to dig and I just have to give her the "ah-ah" - it has improved tremendously! |

Thanks for all the suggestions! Binni tests me EVERYDAY! My husband put concrete block at the bottom of fence in the areas where she has really dug in at. I'm going to try a horn. I may but her e-coller on and hide from her and wait to catch her in the act. But, she is so crafty and smart that she will know that I'm laying in wait. I get so angry, but just have to laugh at how busy and intelligent she is.
My english springer pup is so layed back and Binni has one speed GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Check out these possible solutions. http://www.gundogsupply.com/consys.html I only used that website to show what products are out there, I do not have any experience buying from that website. |

I had a digger . . . as soon as we were not watching she would dig to get out. She was a dog that loved people and well, if you were not out there, she would go find someone. Nothing was more scarry than when she got out one evening and I found her coming down the road. She was a chocolate lab. Thankfully she was not hit by a car that evening. I tried the sound thing with her, but that would not deter her from doing anything. She could care less about horns, fireworks or anything. Finally got the radio fence and she would wear the collar so that she was not able to get up to the fence. Did not take the time to bury the wire, just hung it on the fence. That did the trick. Really did not have to keep it on her after about 6 months. She just would not go up to the fence, nor pass through the gate unless she was on a leash. Guess she thought that leash had magical powers!
She did continue to dig in the yard some, but as Texas Belle said I would put poop in the hole and she would not dig there anymore. But would find another place. But that became less and less as time went on.
Good luck because nothing more upsetting than to go outside and your dog is not there!

We also had the bottom of our fencing buried and also lined the exterior with large rocks that we had in the woods. Also I second what Bev says - fill the hole with poop and cover it back up - My dogs are diggers (not by the fence) and if I fill the hole with poop they don't dig there again. They haven't done any digging for a while now (knock on wood) - maybe because the entire yard has poop buried in it |

I know what would happen in my neighborhood with that method... It would give the neighbon one side a heart-attack, the other neighbor would shoot me (or the dog), and, luckily, the neighbor across the street would call the police. OH, and Sadie would just dig somewhere else... .
We have chosen extinction - hoping the behavior will just die-out on its own, which, admittedly, has mixed results. She had almost dug-up every bush in our back-yard, now she has stopped, but will dig at any repairs I attempt. Next-up will be e-collar correction, but my wife is uncomfortable with that method, and Sadie digs when I am not home. |

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd |

This doesn't work for me either. She just re-digs the hole, and eats the poop.

| Tattoo ( no that isn't a mistake ; ) ) - that is a different problem. Try feeding pineapple in food. I have heard it helps with poop eaters. Thankfully though I have never had to try it. |

Yeah, we had to do the pineapple thing with our last pair. Interestingly enough, Sophie and Codie were on different food (and treats), where Sadie and Bella are on the same food (and treats). I guess one problem at a time. -Tattoo |

| I lined the inside of my dog's 20x30 foot kennel with blocks. I dug down just deep enough to bury them right next to the inside of the fence. My dog wasn't much of a digger, but if she decides to try, this will deter her. Might be a little labor intensive and pricey, but worth it. I had a lot of blocks left over from a project, so i used them. |
