I mentioned a bit ago that Bugsy was doing a bit of a front end limp that I was worried was from his neck or shoulder.

We went to the ortho vet the other day and he couldn't find any specific point of pain other than a slight response from manipulating one of his toes. So we left with an inconclusive diagnosis that it was a toe injury

I have been watching him like a hawk since and I think it might actually be a wrist injury. I am going to contact the doc but in the meantime was wondering if anyone had ever dealt with either of these problems and had any recommendations for treatment.

We do all the ortho suppplements so I am looking at things like wrap it or don't wrap it, etc.

Did they do any xrays? If not, you might want to have them do that to rule out any bone or structure issues. If it turns out to be a soft tissue issue then I would think some of the new laser therapy and water therapy would help. I would even ask about acupuncture. I have never used acupuncture on my dogs, but I personally have used and swear by it. The lady that does my acupuncture and I have discussed the use on dogs and she believes it would be very beneficial to dogs, especially active dogs. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Sorry have not ever dealt specifically with a wrist or toe injury.

He xrayed the paw and could only see a teeny gap between two bones on the one toe - so there is a loss of cartilage but no arthritis there but honestly neither of us was convinced that could cause him enough pain to limp the way he is from time to time.
This is s dog that took the fentanyl patch off immediately after his TPLO and ran to greet me the next day - dragging the vet tech :)
It was just that the ONLY indication of discomfort was with the toe and even that was slight.
The doc is very good and knows B from the knee stuff and a few other ortho visits LOL
He tried really hard to elicit pain from somewhere but the Beast just kept wiggling and licking him while he did it
The reason I think it might be wrist is I have caught him twice licking near his wrist on the forearm and he wasn't keen on my trying to feel his wrist

As for the acupuncture I know a ton of people that use it for their dogs with great success. Our normal vet just started providing it so that might be what we do after ruling out anything that needs traditional treatment

Mind you whatever it is, isn't preventing him from doing anything he likes!

I know these guys are stoic about pain, so it is really hard to isolate issues with them when it isn't obvious. Good luck in figuring it out. Keep us posted.

Thanks Bev! I've swimming him more and trying to keep our walks/runs to shorter distances.
I've got a trip coming up so he'll have that time 'off' - I hope to come back to a non-gimpy dog :)
