We have taught Bella "bring to mom" or "bring to dad"...and utilize it often, especially when one of us is downstairs and the other upstairs. It is also comes in handy when I drop something and since she's always following behind I can have her pick it up and "bring it for mom" if my hands are full :) So anyway, my husband came home from work the other day and "sent" this to me. I have them both trained well :) Best trick EVER lol. Thanks to her nice soft bite, there wasn't any even box squooshish. Was too cute not to snap a phone pic.

Awwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so cute! Windsor knows how to bring Lou's mom the paper. Velvet will bring something "half way", drop it and go off in the other direction for something else to do.

Taught Sadie to bring my slippers. She brings the first one and leaves it and then sets off for the second one. She brings it to me and then as I grab it from her she races off with it in her mouth and the "fun" chase is on. She loves it. I thinks she knows she is teasing me when she does it.

Growing up I had a little jack russell terrier and she did the same thing. We lived in a 3 storey house and my mum would write a note to my dad asking what he wanted for dinner and send her up with the note. he'd be on the top floor in his hobby room. My dad would reply and send her back down to my mum lol.

Her name was Topsy, she was so sweet and lived to 16 years of age.

I was visualizing a love note. Just like a man to send chocolate!

How did you get Bella to do it? What was your processs in teaching her ?

Hanna is big on keep away . She loves to drag her water bumper around in front of other dogs and have them chase her . She is so agile no one can catch her. She does the same with me its a game for her. In retrieving she is beginging to bring the tennis ball back as in . Oh I get it if I bring it back you can toss it again . The word find is not working yet. Bring is getting better.

Bella could be considered a service dog if needed.

Keanmu, I can just picture a little jack russell carrier :) Who needs pigeons when you have dogs :) In this day and age, I'm ashamed to admit that I sometimes resort to calling or texting my husband's phone if he is working in the garage, rather than just going down stairs to ask whatever the question may be lol. Oh, technology...love/hate relationship.

Hanna, it sort of just came about from other things. Thinking of the progression I'd say it started with teaching "bring it" - which was very easy because where as a lot of dogs prefer keep away...Bella LOVES to share. She will stick her toys right in your face SO proud of them. I never worried about her chewing something that wasn't hers because whenever she found something she thought was great, she had to come show it to us. I further encouraged this by "trading up" I think...if she brought something to show me, I'd either inspect it tell her how awesome it was and give it back (made her super proud) or tell her "oh, this is momma's..thank you bella...THIS you may have (and trade out for something she could have of hers). So we incorporated "bring it" that we use in fetch or to show us something. From there she caught on to "show mom".

Then, my husband started teaching her "go see mom" so I started saying after "good girl, now go see dad". She picked up on that very quickly and now knows him as "dad" and me as "mom". I then taught her to bring the mail in as her daily job. My husband is usually in the garage after work when I get it so I started saying "bring to dad". And...from there it just got easier and easier. Now we don't need to be right nearby, she will hunt for whoever she's been sent to.

I think she got pretty good with the word "find" when we played hide and seek as a puppy on super cold days this past winter. She knew I obviously took her toy and did something with it...and that her goal was to find it. So she caught on quickly. Now we can say "go find" or "hunt it up" and she goes into nose and propeller tail mode :) It's amazing how smart they are.

Awesome! Rowdy knows "bring it" (different than "fetch") which means pick up whatever object he's right by and bring it to me. Not sure he would do it without devouring the thin mints first though!

The worst day of hunting is better than the best day at work.
