I planted a pigeon before I let the litter out back for their daily play session. This litte girl pointed and her sister backed her at 6 weeks old.

My dog pointed grouse at 4-5 months old and I even shot several over her at that age. I will admit that it was not a perfect point, flush and shoot thing. Strangely, she regressed the next hunting season as if she had never been out. A lot of work this summer and I'm seeing some positive signs. Less than two months to the season and we will know then. By the way, your pictures is fantastic.

Did she bump the bird?  I know the first couple birds you do NOT want to shoot the bird unless it either wild flushes (not bumped by the dog) or you walk in to flush.  If the dog bumps the bird and you shoot it, you've done some damage, from everything I've read.  In any case, good luck to you this season.

The worst day of hunting is better than the best day at work.
