Hey everyone! So my pup is now 14 weeks and seems to be very sensitive to his collar. I have tried quite a few and they all seem to be rubbing the hair of his neck. It's not too tight no need to say anything about that. Does anyone know of a good collar that is visible in the field for sensitive necks? Or has anyone else had this problem and found a good solution? Thanks everyone!

What type of collar is it? What's it made of: Leather, Nylon, plastic, chain? I had problems with rubbing with my last dog, Sophie. I got a padded nylon, instead of a regular nylon. That seemed to clear-up her issues, although she was always a sensitive-skinned dog. She used to welt like crazy if the mosquitoes were out! I haven't had any issues with Leather collars.

It is watching the dogs work that I thoroughly enjoy, and love. I could get by with just watching them work - if it weren't for all the training, and the joy they exhibit when they pick-up, and deilver to hand a bird that they pointed, and you shot. - Todd

Who has sensitive skin? Bella raises paw In the club with you. For the field and water, we got a coated collar that is water resistant, but since it is sort of rubbery, I don't leave it on for times other than that mentioned. Her everyday collar is just nylon and I leave it very loose. too loose really, but then it sits at the bottom of her neck and has free moment so it doesn't rub one place. After her last potty out, I also often remove her collar for the night, and as long as the next day we can go before she needs it on. Her next one will be leather. The inside of these are usually soft suede and I think it will be best.

Velvet came to us with no hair on her throat. Both of our dogs wear nylon collars and they are very loose as they don't leave the yard now that it is fenced in. When we go for walks with them we use the Cesar Milan slip leads now that sit up high - just got them and they work well. When we will train outdoors w/ no leash, we will use the tritronics e collars but those come off once back on the property.

Mine do not like the nylon as their pointy short hair gets caught in it. So, the have leather for when they go out. In the field they do wear the nylon, since they are only on in the field it doesn't seem to bother them. At home they run around naked.

I use these: www.lcsupply.com/LCS-Day-Glo-Collar-1-D-Ring/productinfo/DGS1/ Some people seem to like the leather-feel better: www.lcsupply.com/LCS-Leather-Feel-Collar-1-O-Ring/productinfo/LFO/ I will also use thin rolled leather and nylon collars, too... But never for walking. He walks with a choke chain.

I took their collars off tonight so they are now happily naked Then I gave them each a good neck rub.....both passed out. Windsor never even had his 8:15 p.m. like clockwork tantrum

Ya, ours our nekkid around the house. They have nylon colours for off-leash, mushing harnesses for some running work and wide hound collars (lined with fleece) for other running, and nylon harnesses (with fleece under their armpits) for walks. And they know what each one means

I take back what I said - Windsor woke up at 9 and had his little tantrum but went back to bed after I let him out and gave him a cookie LOL. It's like he has to throw a fit every night for 15 minutes. He'll whine, run in circles and if I say "Where's your Hiney" that gets him going - he'll spin. Then he gets the ball and after 3 throws, out for "business" and then a cookie, he's all done for the evening!

Yeah, my male dog is worse than my father whom my mom complains about all the time because my dad is like clockwork. Glad I have an easy-going husband - he just goes with the flow - no routine for him. I spoke with a friend of mine who just retired from where I work. Whenever I call, her husband answers and is crabby. I asked her yesterday what is up with that. And she said nothing, it's "that time of day" - he does that every single day!
