Despite failing to receive the votes needed to pass out of the Water, Parks and Wildlife Assembly Committee today, the committee chairman says he's bringing
SB 1221 back up for reconsideration for a special "vote only" hearing sometime between tomorrow and July 6.  

Therefore, we need everyone to once again call or fax committee members and ask them to vote no. If they already voted no, thank them and urge them to continue voting no. If they voted yes, urge them to change their vote. If they were absent, ask them to vote no.

SB 1221 is bad public policy and according to the California Department of Finance it's passage would cost California over $400,000 in lost revenues and additional expenses. 

In addition to costing taxpayers, this bill is bad public policy. It threatens public safety and allows the killing of dogs that "may" be chasing a bobcat or a bear! There is no policy justification for this bill. It is not based on accepted wildlife management principles! 

Please call or fax the Committee members below. Thank the legislators who voted no and ask them to vote no again if it comes to another vote. Ask those who voted yes to change their vote to no and urge the assembly member who was absent to vote no.
