So Rowdy is completely housebroken now, except when he sees kids, especially, or sometimes just anyone new, he immediately pees everywhere, all over the floor.  I know he's just an excited pup, but do any of you know when this will stop/what I can do about it?  Thanks.

Didn't face this issue personally, but have known others who have. I think they mainly just attempted to tone down exciting moments (like if people came over, they kept him preoccupied with something not so new and exciting like a toy or treats and once the person had been there awhile they let pup go free rein but by then he wasn't so super excited). DEFINITELY harder done than said to tone down a puppies excitement level.

Since excitement or fear urination is something totally beyond their control, try helping Rowdy prevent in the meantime. If you know someone is coming over, take him outside right before and make sure he goes a few times so he is good and empty.

I also think with age and further confidence it is something that lessened over time with the people I know. Keep working with him on building his confidence in the world and he would learn to remain more emotionally stable during exciting times. (BOY, another easier said than done thing with puppies huh?)

Thanks, those are really good ideas and I will definitely try letting him out first and preoccupying him when someone does come over.

I had a cocker spaniel who would pee everytime someone came over or even when I came home. What I started doing when I came home was walk in and totally ignore her at first and walk to the back door and let her out to pee. After that then I would great her. When others came over I would also put her in the backyard until the initial excitement of someone coming in was over. Then I would let her in, but I instructed guest that they could pet her quietly, but nothing that would get her excited. She eventually outgrew the problem.

I also had the same problem with one of the male puppies from my last litter. The lady that bought him became a friend so she comes over regularly and brings Oliver (the shorthair from my litter). He would get so excited when he would get here he would pee. So she started walking him my front yard so he could pee and I would put all my dogs in the backyard. When they came in I ignored him and we would put him outside with my dogs. Once outside I would then go out and say hi to him. He too has outgrown the problem.
