Several judges withheld select ribbons when GCH started. Some didn't understand the idea or didn't like it. This should be over by now.
I agree that we should be selective about judges if we can be. Up here in AK we have 16 show DAYS (not weekends) each year and mostly have the older all - rounders judging. I have to envy those who have a bigger choice in venue and judges.
That being said, the Pros are (hopefully) doing their "job " and most of the good ones work hard at learning their dog's best attributes so they can kick our butts. If we (and some few of us do) worked on the ability to show our dogs every day, then we have the right to complain about the judging.
I do keep a small list of DNS judges here and a list of those who will put up solid livers and those who reward dogs instead of the other end of the lead.
By the way - best of luck to everyone at the up - coming NSS. I will not be there this year. Between uncertain availability of putting dogs on flights and dogs more used to below freezing weather....
Hope to see you all in 2013.

I would like to know that judges name so I don’t show to him. One way to get rid of judges like that is don’t support him when he comes up on a slate. I certainly don’t want to show him my good moving field dogs.

Diane, I bet I know who that withholding judge is! He just about denied all his breeds select points here over a year ago. He even gave BOBX and BOSX marks in the judges book. He said ALL of our GSPs had awful movement and would never last in the field. Right!!!----- Reply message -----From: "Diane Prohaska" <iane.Prohaska@pernod-ricard.com">Diane.Prohaska@pernod-ricard.com>To: "firstname.lastname@example.org" <email@example.com>Subject: [gsp-l] owner handler judgingDate: Wed, Apr 4, 2012 9:29 amThen does it go in the judges book so they know if the bob is an owner handler? On another matter, recently had a judge who withheld select from very nice group of specials. From what I heard he just didn't believe in giving
select. Has anyone else had this experience? What do you think? -----Original Message-----From: firstname.lastname@example.org [mailto:email@example.com] On Behalf Of Phyllis McNallSent: Wednesday, April 04, 2012 9:22 AMTo: firstname.lastname@example.orgSubject: Re: [gsp-l] owner handler judgingSo it kind of follows the progression used in selecting Best Puppy orBest Bred-By then. Well, sometimes those folks stick around for thecompetition and sometimes they don't. I'd suppose that it woulddepend on whether one wanted to be considered for those competitionsor not. There is a place to check on the entry form for "eligible forowner-handler competition" , so one would know if they had entered ornot.Barbara McNeill (with GRCH CH
