My wife and I are ready to add a new member to the family and are looking for a breeder in the northeast area.  I'm in NY, but will travel anywhere in the northeast to find a good breeder.

First and foremost I'm looking for a good pet and companion.  I have a 3 yr old that absolutely LOVES dogs and is great with them.  Second, I'm looking for a good hunting dog, as I belong to a club that allows me to bird hunt from Oct.-March. I plan on training myself.  I have never owned a GSP, but have owned and trained labs. We recently moved to an area where there are LOTS of open fields and land for me to train and exercise a GSP.  I don't want a professional trainer as I enjoy spending the time doing so myself even if I can't do as good a job as a pro.  I have been trying to research some breeders, but it seems to me that most that I found are breeding for show, with much less emphasis on temperment and personality.

Thank you for all the replies!  I have found somene with an upcoming litter that has what I'm looking for.  Hopefully in a few months I'll be posting pics of a new pup!!
