I am starting to work with Bowden on "Whoa". I have been watching videos that have guided me to using the barrel approach. He is starting to do well with just standing there without squirming around while I keep repeating " Whoa.....Whoa". I will be adding distractions with toys, balls, sticks and eventually birds. I am not sure how to make the transition to doing it on the ground though. Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

I draw out the word whoooooooaaaaaaa softly while I stroke the dog from head to tail.
Transitioning to the ground should only take a day or two.
IF you have done barrell technique properly.
Whatever you did on the barrell, now do on the ground.
The tough part is introducing flushed bird and gunshot.

He's cute.

How old is he?
Do you think maybe the barrel is too much pressure at his age?

He is 19 weeks. I don't think it is, he does very well with it. It only took him a couple tries to get it down and now I am starting to mix in the distractions and he is doing well. I don't really push it to hard, only a few minutes at a time.
