This is Fritz. He is a sweet 6 year old boy. He belonged to the father of a boy hood friend of mine. Unfortunatly my friends father passed away. He tried to make a home with my friend but there is a lot of conflict with the Wiems he allready had. We are giving him a Temporary home till he can find a loving family Fritz is a calm loving boy. He has not had much training but from what little OB I have work with him he seems to pick things up quickly. Please feel free to PM me if you are interested.

I should have updated this a while ago. Fritz has found a home with us. We had someone from this site willing to give him a great home (thank you) with a GSP buddy, but my wife Mrs. "we don't need a third dog" was absolutly heartbroken with the prospect of him leaving. (There were tears) So he is now her baby. She tucks him in each night with a blanket and defended him when he killed three of our ducks. She has been giving me a hand training giving us something eles to do together. He has made his spot in our in our family.

Once they get a paw in the door you've no chance really ...... That's why my other half will not let me register as a fosterer for the gsp sw rescue in the UK - he's not daft, he knows i wouldnt be able to say goodbye to any gsp. It's a regular occurrence for gsp rescue to happily announce that they have managed to rehome another gsp but that it's the temporary fosterer who keeps the dog, subsequently the rescue org regularly lose foster homes because no-one can resist keeping the "temporary addition"

This is exactly why I help rescue in other ways. No way could I foster as I would end up keeping them.

Would love to own a "herd" of GSPs ;0) I wonder what the collective noun for GSPs would be? Somehow the word "pack" just doesnt seem right for them!

I think it would be an "asylum", lol! I do foster occasionally (very occasionally). I have 2 GSPs, which is more than enough for a single woman living alone who works 6 days a week, so I am rarely even tempted to become a foster failure. In my opinion, I am helping to save those dogs and giving them a loving home until their real furever family comes along. I just wish I could foster more often, but Daniel will only accept female dogs & they have to be invisible fence trained, so it really narrows down my pool of fosters I can help.

"asylum" seems pretty apt ;0) Have been looking up collective nouns - an implausibility of pointers, a gaggle of gsps, a swarm. "hurtle", "crash" or "mischief" seem the most appropriate existing collective nouns, although i think asylum may stick as the best word!

I vote for an asylum of shorthairs. Like a murder of crows..right? The question is who is running the asylum? "They'er coming to take me away.." Case in point I mentioned earlier that my wife has been tucking in Fritz at night with a blanket. Well Adelaide began relentlessly begging to sleep on our bed at night. I would wake up with her nose on the bed staring me down in the dark. She would not give it up! My darling love suggested that "maybe she wants to be tucked in too". To prove her wrong I coverd adie with a blanket before we went to bed the next night...she curled up and let a sigh of contentment. That left Lucy peering at me with a look of "UM...aren't you forgeting somebody??" So she got a blanket too. Not one dog left their bed all night! An Asylum of shorhairs indeed!

Revlistless, your story reminded me of Dutchess. Benelli (2 yrs old) would go out in the rain and Dutch (9) would stay inside (it's raining you know). I would dry Benelli off with a towel when she came in and Dutch would come over for the rubdown as well. Now, when Abby (6 mo) goes out in the rain, Benelli (3) stays inside (it's raining you know) and Benelli wants the towel rubdown when Abby comes in. Too funny.
