I am tired! But it's a good tired. She is an absolute spitfire - face licker, jumper, counter surfer and I had to feed her outside. Had to put her out first because while I was making dinner she was doing the boing boing boing thing to the point where I couldn't make dinner. And she's a chow hound - ate real quick!

She is gorgeous!!! Congrats!!!! I love your yard too, what kind of fence did you go with??? Looks like they'll have plenty of room to enjoy their time outside!!! Have fun with her, you'll all settle into a routine soon and it won't be so overwhelming. |

| Thank you for embedding the video for me - how do I do that? My fence is a deer fence - it's steel wrapped in plastic. Looks like a very heavy grade black chicken coup with wires running across it but you can hardly see it - 7 feet tall with two gates at each end. The two dogs are going completely nuts right now - both barking at something I have no idea about. Well good to have two watch dogs now! LOL! She has very bad manners - all over the furniture - I don't mind it here and there but she's bad with the jumping so we'll be teaching her not to do that. I was on the bed and she jumped up, Windsor jumped up and she growled at him bad. And I really don't want her on the couch because if Windsor and her both go on it, I'll have no place to sit! Windsor does good on the floor or a dog bed so I got her one and am trying to get her used to it. |

Congratulations Kim! She is really pretty. Hope things settle down for your sake .. Sounds like she needs a little work, and needs to know from the start that YOU are the boss. Especially when she jumped on your bed and growled at Windsor... just my humble opinion.. There will never be a dull moment at your place!!! .. as for the barking and howling, Wendy likes to howl when my Cockatoo screams, now that is loud!!! It's funny that you have the barking, howling thing going on!! Good luck with your new addition!! Keep us posted! |

Kim -- do you know if Velvet has ever had a litter? Raz is super-bossy (which meant she was a super-momma). Fortunately, Bo was looking for someone to tell him what's what, so that works in our house. |

They look great together, best buds for life! You have spotted her naughtiness and it is great to know you will take the upper hand and teach her to behave better...I saw on fb that when she jumped up and growled you knocked her off the bed and showed her that is unacceptable so good work on your part... Right now I am doggie sitting a chihuahua and jack russel terrier....the JRT is very dominant and when she is on my lap she would growl when my dogs would come over so I would tel her no and knock her off my lap (not too rough since she is a smaller dog, but enough that she got the point)...it didn't take her long to figure out she had to let the other dogs come by me too... Side note it is super funny watching Striker play with the chihuahua! |

Velvet is a very nice looking GSP. Congrats on your new family member. Sounds like you will have your hand full for a while getting her settled in and learning the rules, but you've identified most of the problems, so you're heading in the right direction. Will be looking forward to more pics and stories on how things are going. |

| We were told she has had one litter and yes she seems like the dominant one but Windsor doesn't seem to mind at all - he liked being led around by her yesterday. I've been at work and Lou said they are nice and calm today and she listens to Lou. Maybe she won't take commands from me being a woman? We'll see tonight when I get home but she is very sweet - has a sweet face and I just melt but I have to keep trying with the good manners because I don't want dogs all over my furniture. They have the couch in the den and that's it. |

Kim - To embed a video you have to reply to your original post. I'm not sure why, but embedding doesn't work in an original post, just in replies to it. |

| If you do it right it will also work in an original post, just don't remember what right means. Will have to try it again and write it down. |

I'll try it with the next video. Well Velvet is calming down a little. She sleeps great through the night but has to be kenneled or she'll go up on the bed. And Lou and I will not fit with two dogs on the bed. Windsor comes on the bed with me but gets off once Lou gets home from 2nd shift and usually goes into his kennel which is next to hers - his door stays open though. Hopefully we can do the same with her in time. Doing good today - she is learning to stay off the couch. I did find her sprawled out on the spare bedroom bed but I didn't mind that - so long as she can calm herself down. Is it ok for me to let her know she can go certain places, just not OUR bed or living room furniture? She hardly naps and she doesn't seem like she is 6 years old - she can outrun Windsor for sure. She is starting to learn "sit". And right now I have a problem constantly going boing boing boing boing and licking my face, she will sit if I push her butt down telling her to sit but that's not easy with food bowl in my hand or a big bowl of water. Windsor was like that but he stopped doing that in a short time. Not sure how to get her to stop? I can't even sit on the porch without her jumping up to lick and nibble my face. Any tips? I keep standing up and ignoring her and that seems to be helping but if anyone out there has other ideas, please let me know. She is a sweetie and I am just so glad both dogs get along real well Just now Windsor is passed out and she was next to him resting her head on his butt. But I couldn't take the picture in time - she is fast to wake up. |

| This is what a friend of mine did: Have her wear a leash when you are in the house watching her (obviously a safety hazard if you can't see her get stuck on something!) and step on it every time she tries to jump up. That way, you can stop the jumping & still have both hands free. |
