Hi all,

An acquaintance has a situation where a 7 yr. old GWP, who is good with older kids, is
now growling at their new crawling-stage baby.  They have another baby who
will soon be at that stage.  They don't want to give up the dog, who has been the
baby, until their babies have come along.

What are the best books or websites relating to this issure  that you would suggest?

I said not to punish the growling (it's the dog's way of
indicating she is uncomfortable); never ever leave dog and
babies alone; distract; record when the behaviour occurs, etc.
but they need more immediate, practical advice.   And, of course, I suggested a professional trainer.

I never had that problem with my children/dogs.  Since
I don't have grandchildren, am seldom around babies, I have
not paid particular attention to this type of advice when it has come up on the list.

All of the rescues I have rehomed because of this problem, the
owners had already determined to get rid of the dog even when
I enouraged them to get professional advice.

Kindest regards,
Lichen in West Vancouver, BC
