Subject: 5 year old GSP needs home

Most all of the dogs I get into rescue I can find foster homes for. I am very stuck on this dog though. He is not dog friendly or cat/small animal friendly. Thus I can't get him into foster care as all my foster homes have other dogs and small animals. He is a very nice dog. Loves being with people and hardly will leave your side. If I can't find him a home that he is an only dog I will have to probably put him down. I hate to admit defeat but he has me at that point. I can't keep him here as we have several dogs and a couple cats. Right now he is living in the barn and it is sooooo cold out there. He does have a heater on him. He has a great nose on him. Points everything that moves. He is up to date on shots and will be fixed on Tuesday this coming week. He is soooo sweet I just need to get him to an only dog home. If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP! Thanks!

I'm afraid I can't help, wish I could though--what a cutie! Is your rescue set up with Petfinder.com? Maybe the increased visibility could help you nab a home for this boy. It's nasty out there right now--hope you find a warm, cozy place for him soon!!! Good luck!

It sure is nasty out there. We tried introducing him to another of the foster dogs today and he was ok. I am wondering if it is just certian dogs. I have had a bit of interest on him but not a lot! We are keeping heaters blowing and food plentiful for him! If we didn't have the pups in the house I would consider introducing him to our bunch but he has too much prey drive and would probably hurt the litter! Doing our best though!

My male gets very grumbly & alpha male around other alpha dogs, but he seems to have no problems at all with dogs that don't care if he wants to be King of the Hill. Have you tried him with a nice, submissive dog yet? It's just a thought. I had trouble finding a companion GSP for him because he was so grumbly and growly (never aggressive, not an attacker, just not happy) with the dogs I tried him with, but then I found sweet Layla and she is perfectly happy to let Daniel push her around and be the boss, as long as he plays with her. Now they are the best of friends and he plays like a puppy.
