thanks for the reference.

BLUP genetic evaluation procedures are what we use in cattle breeding to describe genetic merit for a trait, by estimated breeding values reported in a suitable unit or probability. While I agree that BLUP procedures would be much better than phenotypic screening procedures it would require a whole lot of cooperation by breeders because the procedures combine pedigrees with scores and unless litters by important sires were measured little progress will be seen,
