Hi All - I was just doing some thinking, and maybe this is a little out there and totally impossible, but wouldn't it be so cool the have a Shorthairs Website meet up/gathering of some kind?
Considering that we all live across the US and some of us in Canada and even Prauge and other countries, it would take some serious logistical planning.
I feel like we would need to pick a relativly central location, probably somewhere in the Midwest and it would need to probably be at a campground or someone's house who has a lot of property and would be willing to have people and dogs camp on thier property.
We could do it for a week or a long weekend.
I just think it would be awesome to get everyone together to finally meet and share stories and let our doggies play. I have truly loved being a member of this amazing group for the past 4 years. We have shared so much - our love of GSPs, new doggies and babies, heartbreaking losses, family troubles, family joys.... I feel like I know you all.
It is probably just a big dream but maybe it could happen. Anyone else wanna brainstorm some ideas?? |

That would be really cool ! Shorthairs running everywhere. Here are some photo's of Max. You can almost see him in the middle of the other dogs at his first play date. He was about 3 monthe old and the other dog's looked out for him. He loved it and didn't want to go home when it was time to go.
The next picture is Max and his friend Clancy headed out to our pond.

I would really like to do this (my family like to camp anyway).... I do know that in Milton WI there is a campground and they have an off leash dog area, but you must have good recall cuz there is no fence. It is called Hidden Valley Resort http://www.hiddenvalleyrvresort.com/ However there are several different campgrounds by or near Marengo IL and my parents have 6 acre farm so all the dogs could meet there and run... |

I would definitely be for a Shorthair meet up! I think Midwest is a good idea....a central location for all of us. Depending on the amount of people/dogs who could make it, my parents have a large yard and field, it would be perfect for setting up tents and lots of room for them to run. We are in NorthWest Wisconsin. I'm assuming a summer meet up since people would want to camp. ? |

| How about at the GSP Nationals in May 2011? It is in Wisconsin and they will allow fifth wheels on site. I don't know about the camping though. It also lasts for over a week with Agility, Obedience, Hunt Test, Conformation, Rally, etc. Allot of the folks on this site are already planning to go. You just have to join the GSPCA and you can go. You don't even have to enter a shorthair in the competition. Allot of folks just come to watch. |

| I may be going to the shorthair special with Truffles. I wouldn't have Xara though (which is ok because she isn't a fan of other large dogs *sigh) |

| It would be nice if everyone could stay at the Olympia Resort and see some of the Nationals...then maybe we could set up some time to take the dogs to the Terri Tinsley Dog park with the pond... |

If someone didn't want to stay at the Olympia Resort and or just wanted to come for when we do the dog park and not the entire GSPCA Nationals then you could stay at the Days Inn in Johnson Creek WI http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/modify_dates?areaCode=&searchWithinMiles=10&areaType=1&destination=johnson creek&state=WI&country=US&checkInDate=04/30&numberAdults=1&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=05/08&numberChildren=0&numberBigChildren=0&rate=000&useWRPoints=false&promotionCode=&corporateCode=1000006593&iataNumber=05619843&cid=&affilid=&partnerid=&variant=&id=02682&propBrandId=DI&force_nostay=false&tab=tab1 |
