Got a 5 month old female she can catch frisbee but its hard to motivate her to focus when outdoors any ideas?

Give her some time. She is still very young. My oldest girl was like that when she was little, and now she is a frisbee maniac. Her focus will come as she matures.

I'd be careful doing too much disc work at that age just because of the impact on the still growing joints. I'd recommend doing some bite work (tugging with the disc) to get the dog engaged, and throwing rollers for her. Rollers are just that--send the disc rolling on the ground. Are you interested in getting into freestyle work, or just toss and fetch? If you think you might be getting into freestyle, I'd start working with more than one disc right away....send the dog after a roller, when they come back to you with the disc reward the dog with a 'bite' on another disc as soon as they drop the first. Once that starts consistently happening, mark the drop with whatever command you plan to use to ask for a drop....you eventually want the dog to drop the disc on the run when you want to create sequences. I'm probably not explaining this well at all, so I recommend checking out www.pawsitivevybe.com. They're my frisbee gurus and some of the best positive/disc trainers you're ever going to come across.
