Oh great, I'm sure that was a great first impression.  I was sweating bullets as a first time handler and nothing was going smoothly...

Don't know why you would say that, always enjoy seeing my friends from up north. Run on sunday, arrive thursday, work on friday, and try to keep the dog chilled on saturday.  Good luck on thursday, I probably won't get to see you run, might get there in time to cheer for you when they call out that VC Title though.

Well, Terry, lets hope so!

Are you running any of the young dogs in UT this year?

Wems, you two did fine. The tracks that day were tough all around, but nobody can change the weather or scenting conditions. Your girl is a dog that probably would have tested better at a younger age, there is that window right before they turn into a teenager when they look really good. Then the ears turn off, and they realize they are faster then you and know more about birds then you. I am guessing she was right in the middle of that at test time! But it turned out OK, and you have a lot of dog to work with, have fun with her!

Probably be spring before I will test them. They sure are looking good though. They turn 2 in January and after a good hunting season behind them they should be ready to finish out. Got another project I'm working on also, he's almost a year old.

Terry, nice looking boy, you have your hands full!

HV, right someone invited you to a party, that is a good one!

Hogan, I guess I will introduce myself Friday am at the line up. I will just ask everyone in an orange hat until I get to you! Or you could just tell me your dogs name, that will cut down on my embarrassment, and everyone thinking I am crazier then they already believe me to be!

See you in a couple of weeks.

Hogan will be the dog with the blaze orange collar.

He's as strong as an ox and a beast in the field but around the house he is a big cupcake. If he gets to be more than I can handle I know a trainer in Iowa that I can send him to.

Got back last night, long weekend, or week.
Johnny passed so that was good, it was a fun day, except for the heat and the 40 mile an hour winds. The first 10 mins in the field were a little nerve racking, he had been in the truck since Tuesday, and was really feeling the need to stretch his legs in that big open field. But he settled in, it was tough as we were braced with a closer working dog and had to really work to get him in position to back, he got one on a skunk point, so of course no shot or retrieve, then they had to do a set up. I wasn't really worried about it as he will back a stump, but it is nice to get it done before the hour is up! The double mark was interesting as the ducks were blowing across the lake, so I was trying to move downshore as he was coming back with the short duck, and stopped at the marker they had, and I knew at some point he was going to check out decoys as they were flying out of the water with the white caps, so when I send him, he did, go sniff the closest set, then head out in the direction of the long bird where it had landed (it was now way across the lake, on the wrong side of the wind) when he got to the fall area, he either smelled the track it blew on or saw it, turned right towards it and got it in.
Was in the field for the next three days, saw some stunning dog work and some heartbreaking things happen. I saw lots of camera's going off, I am sure there are some very unflattering pictures of me floating around, hopefully they won't show up on the net!

I have worked at Inv. prior first time our chapter hosted however. It is really a lot of work !!!!! I was a gunner in the field work  all 4 days and moved from B to C and then the last two days in A field. The rain pretty well sucked  and the wind was difficult to shoot in.

I didn't however have any injuries sooo that was good! I hope your thumb heals up prior to your hunting season Trey.

 Randy,

You guys and gal did one heck of a job this year, the rain did make saturday miserable but still a great Invitational. I had a little trouble with the memory bird at the double but other than that she looked pretty darn good and already qualified for next year. Oh, by the way, you missed a good trip in So. Dakota. They didn't beat you up to bad for not coming.
