So for my birthday my mom designed a quilt with a GSP head embroidered at the center, Jasper's name, my kennel name, and as many of Jasper's relatives as she could find (she had to ask my dad since she is not a GSP person) embroidered around it. She designed it as something that I can hang on the wall, but also take to a dog show and put on top of my crates. I love it so much I just had to share

That's beautiful, what a lucky boy Jasper is to have such a "grandma." Did she have a pattern for the face, or just freestyled?

I have a Jasper too, the brown one. When I picked him up, he was so wimpy I was going to name him "Casper," for Casper Milquetoast (you probably don't remember that--heck, I don't, not personally!) but then I decided that would be cruel. So "Jasper" it was. And he is a VERY good boy.

The head is an embroidery pattern that was purchased for a jacket she made me a couple Christmas's ago. She has a friend with an embroidery machine and they often pair up and work on a quilt together. My mom is a professional long-armer and her friend does professional embroidery so some of their designs are pretty amazing. I'm very lucky in that she can pretty much design anything I come up with although this was all her own idea.

That is beautiful. As a beginning quilter & embroidery person kinda it gives me lots of ideas. I have some 4D embroidery software
I have been playing around with that takes pictures of your own dogs and changes them into embroidery designs. What a great gift :-)

That is amazing! My mom used to quilt a lot, and from her I know that it is a lot of work. Definitely not as simple as it may seem. I love the idea. Too bad my mom can't quilt anymore (arthritis) or I would put her on it :)
