Today Tara ran a water test in NY after her 4 mnths hiatus from training for her motherly duties. She passed her RDX!! I am extremely proud of her, she remembered every mark well & needed very little handling, she hit the blind retrieve on her first cast, she made me VERY proud today!!!!

She was the only RDX dog who qualified too, not bad for an out of shape momma who hasnt had much work this year!!

Awesome! Congrats Ann and Tara! That lil gal just keeps on giving for ya!

Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

Thanx all!!
Bruce, I couldn't ask for a more co-operative dog, one of the easiest I have ever worked with, she just lives to please me. Hopefully she will get her MH this fall & I can start working towards readying her for NAVHDA UT. (no clubs near me or people to train with tho-bummer)

I train alone. When I need "people" around I have my husband and kids join in. I have my husband and son handle the guns and Emily around b/c she talks a lot, especially when the dogs are point.
The main thing is to get the dog to know the rules very well and keep standards high. The hardest part, for us, is steadiness in the field,if you can get MH I think the rest is pretty easy.

Thanx Jean!!!
Pixie, I am not married & my son has NO interest in the dogs. Only pointing dog people around me are FT'ers and they have no interest in coming to a pond to work a dog.......and I cannot hit the broadside of a barn from inside, so not so easy for me. I literally train alone.

Said it before and I'll say it again - I so wish we lived closer together. This field trialer would LOVE to put RD titles on her dogs. If for no other reason, than just to disprove when I hear people say that FT dogs won't do water work or are lousy retrievers. Mine certainly will do it.

Little problem in AZ though - trying to find water big enough to train - or at least that stays around reliably without drying up. But I bet my dogs would pass novice at least with no prep.

Some day...

Oh gosh, wish I could help you train. UT will require a helper here and there.
Water work is the helper area. I love water work.
