My GSP  "Osker" will sit in the backyard and throw his head back and howl with a up and down fashion in perfect harmony with the sirens of fire trucks and ambulances. Police cars are no problem of course he cant howl that funny sound. Is this normal or does the pitch hear his ears or something all together different

Try that times 7 - which is what happens at my house when the fire trucks go by  I always know they are coming a couple seconds before my human ears can pick it up. Totally normal GSP behavior.

We live in the city,if my dogs went off when something passed it would be an all day serenade.
My dogs have never paid attention to sirens, what's really cool is that they poop in the gutter as sirens are passing along side them. I get nervous sometimes they're so close.

So far mine do not pay attention to the sirens, but there was one American Express commercial that every time it came on TV would set Belle off howling. The first time I thought something was wrong. Had the TV on and was in the other room getting a snack during commercials and I heard her start howling. I raced back into the TV room and she had stopped (the commercials had changed). So I figured what the heck, but didn't think any more about it. Then it happened again and this time I got into the room and she was still howling. Still couldn't figure it out until about the third time when I made the connection to what was on TV. Then it was funny. It was actually the music in the commercial. I don't know if she liked it or hated it, but she howled every time.

The only time I ever hear Dieter howl is when the train goes by and blows its "louder" horn.

Bev, Karl Malden mkes everyone howl My Olivia noever howled until we got the new pup. The pup is a bit of a whiner when playing and Olivia has started howling in response. Thankfully one good "Stop that" and we are back to a bit of Ottmar on the stereo.
