Birka vom Wendigjaeger, My DD, 1 month shy of 13 yrs. spent her last morning at the hunt club where she pointed and retrieved a pheasant. She had been getting arthritic and developed a rapidly growing tumor on her palate. We had her put down and  buried her in Willow River State Park. She was the dog that "knew just what to do."

So sorry about Your loss. Its always very hard when this time comes. I just made my first trip to my kennels to feed my dogs since I had my knee replaced. God I have missed them. Re: [working-gundog] Birka has passed away.

So sorry to read the very sad news, it is so hard when a beloved dog and one that has worked with you dies.  She did have a very good last morning, so good for her, but painful for you.

A tough decision but a great last morning for the dog. Although unavoidable..... still, a very, very though decision.....
