We made it back yesterday from Guatemala with our new son. Here are some pictures of him along with two pics of Tundra and her puppies. We are still working on unpacking and getting the house in order so there will be more puppy pictures to come in the next week or so. I finaly was able to mark them all as well to at least tell boys and girls apart. :-)

Welcome Home!!! Glad you made it back safely and Jayden is a handsome little guy with a beautiful sunshine smile. Christmas will be like no other for you, Jayden, Tundra and her pups and the rest of the GSP crew!!!! Take time to relax as the unpacking and getting the house in order will always be there. Let us know Jayden's reaction to his new wonderful home and family from time to time!!!

Holy cow, what a Christmas crew, LOL! Those pups are certainly bigger in that picture than the last set, Tundra is obviously feeding them well.

How old is Jayden again? Our daughter Aneira just turned 2 at the end of September. FWIW everyone talks about 'the terrible twos' but beyond a few minor expressions of opinion we've been really enjoying this stage... new words and skills pour in almost daily, and she's already learning her letters. It's awesome to see how fast kids at this age can pick stuff up. :)

welcome back! Congrats on your new family!! Looks like you will be very busy! How is Tundra taking all this in? Looks like an awesome bunch of puppies. I like all the patches! I wonder how dark they will get. Someone has to take after Mommy Tundra right!

So far so good with Jayden and the dogs. He has yet to figure out not to hit them but to pet. In time. Moose is taking it the hardest I think but he was momma's boy as well. I am making sure to give him lots of loving when my hands are free! Now if we could just get Jayden to sleep through the night. ;-) He is almost 11 months old right now.

Welcome back Beth! Good to hear your journey was safe. What a great way to celebrate with all the "youngsters" :) Jayden looks like a sweet little boy -- he's very lucky to have you guys.

He is a doll!! It brings tears to my eyes seeing how happy you all look. Like I said we adopted our last son & you have many years of fun ahead of you. Enjoy every second, before you know it he will be all grown up!! Ours just turned 19. We got him on Dec. 2, so it was a fun x-mas that year. CONGRADULATION AGAIN !! & those pups sure look nice!

Congratulations, Beth!  This is such fantastic news.

Jayden sure looks like a sweetheart.  How's he making the adjustment?

Oh, and that poor Tundra.  I know she's a tiny girl to begin with, but she's totally dwarfed by that gigantic pile of puppies.  Looks like she has a very big job ahead of her.

Here's hoping both new mommas get some well deserved rest!

Very best wishes, Sarah

We started working on 'gentle touch' at about that age for things that were OK to touch but not wail on- like the dog, mom and dad's face, etc. If she hit we'd grab her hand and say "NO- GENTLE TOUCH" and take her hand and stroke the dog or our face softly. Of course we praised her to the skies if she then touched dog/us gently on her own. She actually got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Of course there's times when short people are just on a rampage and/or the dogs have simply had enough. At that point, temporarily redirecting the kid while you scoot the dogs off to a gated area is probably the best course of action for everyone. My theory is that there are 'teachable moments' and..... well..... 'other moments', lol. Kinda like trying to get that perfect off lead heel with a GSP when there's quail bolting all around. :P

Congrats...the sleeping through the night will come, just give it time. Jayden has to be comfortable before he really settles in at night. Lucas sleeps great, but only when mommy and daddy are home...he doesn't sleep at daycare, but passes out when he gets home ;-) Good Luck and keep us posted on the puppies and on Jayden.

Jayden is adjusting well. It is like he has been with us for a long time the way he has taken to us. The nights keep getting better and naps keep getting a bit easier. He had his first haircut today.

As for the pups... They are growing like crazy and Tundra loves them like a good mommy! I have read on the internet a few places about things that can be done with pups to help them become well rounded for their new owners for example by 6 weeks they should have walked on 6 different surfaces etc. Does anyone know where I can find this kind of information on the net? I just can't seem to come across it. Thanks!

Beth -

I remember seeing something about that on one of the dock jumping boards. I think it was posted by Team Missy. Here is something I found though...

http://home.pacbell.net/magohn/Dog_Training_files/RuleofSevens.htm

They also have one for 12 weeks...

Thanks Matt. I thought that it was Dan with Missy who had posted it but I had no idea where to even start looking for it. This will work though! Thanks again!

Your family will really have a busy and blessed Christmas. I must confess that I was a little worried for you as I have been reading about the Guatemala adoptions. I'm so happy that everything has worked out for you. You have years of fun ahead.
