I got a harebrained idea to get a pulk for the 'entire family present' this year so that we could all better enjoy skiing and even skijoring. Thus it was that we headed over the pass for a 200 mile round trip to a mountaineering store that had just the model my husband picked out.

It worked great, even with really crappy crusty conditions!

What awesome parents you are! We have also tried to include our boys in the outdoor pursuits we enjoy and having the right equipment to carry them around in makes all the difference. At one point we had two Burley bike trailers because the two boys in one trailer were just a bit too cramped for their comfort. When you consider the options: "One of us goes and one stays home with kids" vs. "we all get to go", it's a no brainer. And then when the dogs get to go too, well, that's the icing on the cake. I bet you and your husband realized the expense (in time and dollars) to get that pulk was well worth it after just 5 or 10 minutes down the trail. You will get your money out of that pulk in the years you use it and it will be something you'll have no problem selling down the line. Good investment!! (Can you tell I'm jealous we never had one?)

Your videos have almost convinced me that maybe we need more GSPs so we could do the sled-dog thing too. Almost, but not quite!

Thanks for sharing - you look like you're having fun.

Yeah, finding ways for all of us to spend more time together definately seemed worth it. We'll use the pulk with her for a few more years at least, and at that point if we want to resell it we should be able to get most of our money back out by the looks of it. Kind of like the bike trailers (my work all chipped in and got us one of those since I was riding my bike up to 10 days before my due date).

Now we just need more snow! The conditions are pretty awful right now.

P.S. I love dog mushing, but I'll tell you right now it is INSANELY addictive and can really consume time and money. Sometimes I wish I was down to 2 dogs again since I could use the scooter for dryland running instead of needing the truck to haul the cart all over, and I have to cram both girls into a crate in the back of the Pathfinder because it only fits 2 side by side.... but I like all the dogs I have right now and 3 on the sled is quite nice.

I think life will get easier once we upgrade the truck to something that fits all three of us better (supercab) and gets better gas mileage than the ol' '73 F250 with a 390 on board. Right now we have a lot of vehicle-swapping with our staggered shifts and daycare et al. because the carseat really doesn't fit very well in the truck and it's just not as safe. I'm really praying we can pull a truck upgrade off next summer without having to take out a loan, but it's just got to happen regardless.

That is wonderful!! is that your baby in the back their LOL. I bet that little sled was filled with giggles the whole way. I can't think of any better idea to hang out witht the family that is very nice!! Not to come off dorky but looking at that video, that is a perfect example of family time. I keep thinking of that hot chocolate commercial for some reason.
