I thought Bean was part cat when she came to live with us...At 18 months she was very independent, not a snuggly people clingy GSP. I walk her almost everyday, for two hours, after that she would just sit at the window seat and or go outside. It was rare that she would get on our bed, then as if she were going to get scolded, she'd jump off & get on her own bed. I really missed and wanted that closeness. She acted like a cat more than a dog . Gradually she began to "warm up" to us, it took months, January we will have had her a year already.
WELL FOLKS.....be careful what you wish for....These days she sleeps in our bed, hogs the covers, snores, stands up in the middle of the night, then PLOPS on me. If hubby gets up to let her out during the night, she tries to beat him back to the bed & claim his spot. Now her new clingy trick is to get in my recliner with me, she hears that lever extend the foot portion & she's on my lap................YEP I'm a HAPPY CAMPER, selfishly I like the attention...but mostly I am so greatful she's happy...clearly her first 18 months were not so good....I was afraid she would remain distant and fearful, but she really has made a ton of progress. Just an update !
