Other than your own bed, couch, recliner, pile of clean clothes on the floor, etc... What kind of dog bed do you have? Lacey never slept in the bed I got for her, rather choosing to sleep in/comandier Sophie's beds. I want to get her her own. I like the big couch-like ones with the three sides built up. Looked at one on Orvis.com, loved it until I saw the price was $450. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? She better never wake me up in the middle of the night again for a price like that. |

Our boy destroyed the one we got him for when we brought him home. Fluff everywhere, then he peed on the cover for good measure We decided he didn't need a bed after that -- a fleece blanket on the bottom of his crate will have to do. |

When I first got Winston I just got a cheap pillow bed at Canadian Tire (on sale) but after a few months of heavy use (ha ha he sleeps hard!) it needed a replacement....I found this one at Jeffer's Pet Supply called the Coolaroo Pet Bed...it is meant for outdoor use but I love it for inside!
http://www.jefferspet.com/ssc/product.asp?CID=0&mscssid=LR9V8PUA2TC38KSEBXUJNDPVVP3U8UN4&pf_id=0031097&cmkw=coolaroo
The first week or two I put Winston's pillow on top, just until it got broken in(and until he got used to the cot style) but after that he just loved it. I have a fleece blanket covering the canvas top to make it a little snugger, and most times it is up against a wall or the bed. The great thing about this bed is there is no pillow to get flattened, but it is still really comfy. The only thing I didn't really like was putting it together...it is meant to stretch the hammock really tight...so it was a little of a struggle to do myself with only two hands...but if you have another person to help it would probably be a breeze, besides that just tighten the screws every so often and spray it off to clean!
I purchased the medium size one and he fits it just perfect (and he is a big GSP), he can even lie in his favourite position; flat out on his back! |

Anya and Rogan have shredded EVERY bed and blanket we've given them. I got so fed up I had husband cut crate shaped pieces out of rubber horse mats- end of destruction.
Princess Dulcie gets every blanket, every couch, and every bed as it suits her. However, most often you'll find her at night in a child's sleeping bag at the foot of the bed. That's INSIDE- one must hold it open for Her Majesty so she can curl up properly every night. Heh.
Out in the kennels it's just straw. Cheap, keeps them warm, they like playing with it, and when they eat it they're just cleaner machines later. |

$20 Walmart. Just like the ones at Costco. I vacuum them regularly and when they get extra nasty into the washing machine.
I like the foam innards the best as they hold their shape better.

I had the same problem with shredding blankets. Then I made her a crate bad and she never touched it. I took a 2 in. think foam pad the shape of her crate and bought an old comforter from Saint Vincents. I folded the comforter in half and sewed up the sides and one end. Turned the comforter inside out and slipped the foam pad inside. Then I sewed up the final end. This way she can't chew up the foam and if she messes on it I can open the one end, take out the foam pad ..throw it in the washing machine. |

| I stopped by the local Costco last night and they had the couch-type beds for $22-23 and the rectangle beds for $19-20 |

Who needs a bed when you can have a swing?
Especially, when you take a running start at it with your Wubba.

| My Daniel destroyed every bed I ever bought for him. I finally made one out of some heavy duty (almost corduroy, but tougher) material and a foam mattress pad. He has had it for three years now and the worst thing he does to it is occasionally... ummm... assert his dominance over it. I am going to have to get out the old sewing machine and make another one now that I have two GSPs! |

Oh, wow, beds. Opie is nearly 18mos now and has probably chewed, beginning with the evil zipper ("Must rid the world of all evil zippers") and proceeding until the house was covered in fluff. She did the same thing in her crate. I found a site online where you can special order a bed to your crate size. It is made of thick cordura type material (think duffle bag) AND has tiny loops all around the edges. They are about every inch. It comes with a pkg of zip-ties to attach it to the bottom of the crate. VOILA!! There are no evil zippers (that she can see, shhhh), nor do any of the corners or edges poke up. She can get a grip on any part of it. I can search for the site if you are interested. For the house, she has her own couch. I had an old cheap, smallish Ikea couch and I placed it in the corner by two windows and that is her throne. |

| They have a nice big one at walmart that I bought about 3 of when they went on sale for 20 bucks. There huge and they can curl up in the middle and the padding fluffs up and makes a little den for them. |
