Although I didn't get any shots of them together :) Bo attending his first pointing dog training day yesterday. What a lot of learning for all of us! You can tell he had a good time since he was VERY quiet in the car on the way home.

The training day was hosted by the Ottawa Valley Pointing Dog Club and I got to meet fellow message board member Gail (Bravepoint) and her girl, Terra. (You may remember Avery was the cover star of Dog Fancy in November.)

Here are some memories of the day (must remember to use the "snow" setting on the camera next time).

Bo (right) and a new friend arguing over a piece of ice.

Run, run fast as you can!

Bat wing ears!

It was great to meet Bo "in the fur" yesterday! The photos are awesome. I'm glad that you guys had a good time. We're a fun group. We look forward to seeing you at future training sessions.

So happy Bo got to meet Terra!!!! Looks like you had a fun class that involved some agility. We know the joy of meeting another GSP from this board as it was just awesome when Rocky met Ranger on during our trip from central WI to the Twin Cities MN. Rocky was so happy Ranger offered him an opportunity to tear off leash in Ranger's park after a 3 hour car ride!!! Great also that Bo and Terra will have other opportunities to meet in future training sessions. All the classes that Rocky and I attended included all different breeds and Rocky was the only pointer in the class. Would be spectacular to attend a class for just Pointer dogs. Is that just GSP's in your class or does that class involve other pointing dogs?

Marie,

The photos are from a field training session not agility. Bo was being introduced to the training table which we use a lot for steadiness work, retrieving, etc. It saves the handler's back and keeps the dog the easier to manage as he's higher up. Our pointing Dog Club has all different pointing breeds and we meet almost monthly with our dogs to work on field stuff mostly.

It was great for Bo to meet all the other pointing dogs ... it's funny how these dogs seem to recognize their own breed. It was also great to hear from other people who work their dogs hard, but love them just as much.

Lots of learning still to poke in the little guy's brain, as well as ours :)

Thanks Ace1. We think he's pretty special. Yes, he's a beautiful dog, but he also has the NICEST personality -- goofy, but nice :)

Funny how so many owners describe their GSPs as goofy. I was just thinking how Walt Disney's Goofy was gangly just like a lot of the shorthairs. Maybe they could recolor him into a shorthair.

I read a book on the shorthairs and along with athletic, loving, honoring, there was it said first and foremost that they were comical. Is that ever the truth. Sometimes I just have to shake my head and think OMG! You are such a goofball! Especially my boys!!
