Thank you for the kind words and support. I want to point out that the other people staffing our booth are equal partners and I want to thank them for the time they have already invested as well as the hours they will put in this weekend. You know, having just helped host our own 4-day all-breed show, I am here to tell you that finding happy 'worker bees" is almost worse than having a root canal, volunteers are almost non-existent.   .I appreciate the fact that Cathy and the other folks from LIGSP were there for 'us' and stepped up when it was asked.  Here's hoping you have a very successful day and Thanks!

Cathy - thank you for volunteering to run this event.  Sandra - thank you for pointing out that the GSPCA Breeder referral list is a wonderful resource for events such as this....if indeed this is a GSPCA sponsored event.  As the GSPCA is now receiving more and more requests for hosting events such as this perhaps some energy could be used to establish a Meet the Breeds protocol instead of sniping at each other.  If there are Officers and Board members reading all of this perhaps one of you could put this on the agenda at your next Board meeting.  It seems two good resources - Breeder Education appointee and Breeder Referral appointee -  could put together a protocol to assist those in the future who VOLUNTEER to help with such an event.  Sorry if that means more work but it would probably be very helpful.  In the meantime we all continue to do the best we can when we agree to help with a given project.  If the individual is volunteering without expectations of personal gain - then others might give them the benefit of the doubt and be supportive instead of critical.

Thank you to all who VOLUNTEER for the good of our Breed!

I agree with Brenda.  There should be a Parent Club “Meet the Breeds” booth set-up, so that each volunteer has basically the same material and doesn’t have to go about re-inventing the wheel.  I know the kind of work that is involved in these booths.  If I were more able-bodied, I would have volunteered to help at any one of a number of booths from my various club memberships, as well as the New Jersey Federation of Dog Clubs.

I have been told that the Jacob Javitts Center is vast in size (which is the primary reason I did not volunteer).  I know that getting into and out of Manhattan is expensive as well as a pain in the butt.

I think that Cathy should be thanked and not criticized for her willingness to do this.  It is always easy to criticize.

Cathy, is it this weekend or next weekend?  GSP Rescue PA has a full-color trifold brochure that we pass out to people who want puppies.  Inside is the GSPCA's breeder guidelines and questions to ask a breeder - printed with permission.

Do you want some if it's next weekend? I can ship a bunch to you.

BTW, for anyone going into NYC this weekend for MEET THE BREEDS,  you may want to look into taking the ferry from West NY. The ferry docks about a block away from the Jacob Javits Center and you don’t have to pay the tolls at the Bridge or tunnel & then  look for a parking spot in NY.
