You cannot break what is not a rule.  The COE is a SUGGESTION according to the GSPCA.  The Breeder Guidelines can currently only be enforced with those who sign that they will abide by them to get on the breeder referral list.  Ann, am I wrong here?

I am with both of you. Though I do believe health testing has it's place, I think breeding for what's on paper is a mistake. To many new breeders do not have the instincts but they have the heart. Everything is about balance.

The COE is a guideline and can not be used for disciplinary measures. Remember that there are plenty of people breaking it as we speak for the sad fact that Black is not accepted.

Prelims work. What about clearances that are not registered. If the puppy buyers or prospective bitch owners get copies then it should suffice. The cost is a little ridiculous to me.

Sue, so glad you speak your mind so eloquently. I have a looong way to go control my temper with the ignorance of novices. Thanks for saying things so well.

Yes, Misty was OFA excellent. Textbook  hips. And to those who were not aware, those X-rays were taken before OFA was fashionable. I kept them for years, properly marked and they were sent in as a requirement to get her into the hall of Fame. (i was going through a divorce and moving at that time so I just packed them away for future reference) But I am referring to young dogs before the age of 2 to be used on older bitches that really can't wait for those young dogs to get their certifications. WE can clear most , CD, eyes, heart, Von Wildebrand, except for hips by age one. A good prelim works for me if I think that is the best for my brood bitch.
Not the devils' advocate but certainly a black sheep.
fire away!! I will not back down.
