Remembering CJ

Clement J. Walton 1938-2009

Husband v Father v Mentor v Friend

While so many of us are confined by the limits of our own imaginations, CJ challenged us to think beyond those limitations.  He prized learning and shared his best with us; his skills, his thoughts, his humor, and his vast knowledge.  CJ was a man who was not bound by the trappings of tradition and managed to reach people’s hearts in unique and personal ways.  His thirst for new challenges led him down many paths and on untold adventures while any willing participants could not help but imbibe some newfound tidbit of knowledge.  Those of us who were fortunate enough to endeavor in some aspect of CJ’s teachings will be forever changed by the man who has left us but will never be forgotten.

CJ’s wife, Katharine, his children, Lisa, Katharine and James, and his grandchildren Holly and Andrew invite you to join them in a time of virtual remembrance on Thursday, October 1st at 4:00 pm eastern time.  Wherever you may be, please pause for a spell and join us in remembering CJ in your own way.  We welcome your thoughts and your stories and hope that you will be able to share some of them with us as we gather a living tribute to the man we will miss so dearly.

Hello all!

Maud forwarded the message to the ferry I work on. We think of Cj almost daily and the new puppy we received a week ago will be fostred and trained in his spirit and using the knowledge he shared so lawlishly.

I came home from work this morning for a two week leave. Under no circumstances will I continue to work for longer than until Januari 14. I have collected many ideas to try to realize next year and the work on the ferry drains me of too much energy. I have to quit it. Perhaps I can get an early retirement pension due to the heart surgery I had two years ago. I can always try to pretend being with one foot in the grave and the other one on a banana peel :-)))

This week I will try to write something about our new puppy for our website, its about time since I have been rather sad and quiet since Cj left us. Now we have again got Sunshine into the house, the puppies name is just that - Sunshine!

You will hear from me soon!

Best!

Interesting that you wrote today. I just sent a friend of mine a bunch of CJ's posts from the old drahthaar forum. He is getting a new DD pup next fall. I always liked CJ's line, " shut up and follow your dog" , as well as his admonishment to not use planted birds. I think a lot of folks are led astray by watching hunting shows on the TV. The handlers are always chatting with their dogs!!!
