Bo whines a lot: when he's chasing a dog that he can't outrun, when he's in his crate against his will, when he's in a down-stay and leave (a treat). I take it as a "I'm not getting my way and I'm really not happy right now" sound and ignore it.

I had a Lab that whined NON STOP in the car/truck...what a pain..seriously whined
Bean never whines......she vocalizes...lol nothing annoying
Last Lab I took on a trip & nearly left her behind ( NOT REALLY)...Bean is a solid traveler...no mus no fuss
Bean is silent in the truck.....only peep she makes is when we "dock" for the night..NOW IT'S HER PLACE
and she is Alpha................I have that obstacle to deal with, At LEAST she does not whine.. that drove me nutZ.. BTW
Bean is 2 yrs plus & acting like a puppy....Rescue& and a Litter later she's a lil confused...MY BET IS
she'll get feeling okay soon !!!!

Spencer only whines when he can't reach the cat. He sits under there watching her patiently, whining. It was cute until she ended up with teeth marks on her head...

Bo is now in his crate whining ... after a 45 minute walk in the pouring rain, the poor guy just can't get comfortable. (Granted, he is the one who's destroyed every pillow we've given him...)

He whines at the cats too, but only cuz they've put him in his place and he can't figure out how to get by them without seriously p***ing them off

Isabell did so good in the car ride. We had a 10hr trip back to NY after we picked her up. When she is eating is is more like a wine like oh this is so good I can't get enough LOL .She is perfect! When i get a few mor pictures of her I will post them. She has gotten so much darker since we picked her out and she was the darkest out of the litter which was really good for us b/c we really wanted a dark ticked puppy. Oh the best thing is she wines when she has to go out to the rest room. Lucky me!

Now that you mention it, Bo does whine when he's enjoying a particularly good chew on a bull pizzle. :)

Jasper whines when he isn't getting what he wants, but often subsides into a sad little whuffle as he gives up.

Chelsea has an annoying, high-pitched frustrated whine--almost a squeal--and she has also picked up the habit of "baying" at me--"Woo-woo-woo" when I'm dawdling over fixing her food.  That is also annoying.  They are very vocal!

My two boys do that aroooooo thing. I think it's funny. Usually when they have something in their mouth. I tell them to go tell momma what you've got and they do it. Belle greats me with a I wuv you every time. The pups have an annoying whiny bark. Especially when I get home and they want out of the kennel. The boy(stud) also has this super high pitched bark(like a squeeker toy) that he does when he is chasing Hunter around the yard. I sure hope he goes through puberty soon and gets his big boy voice.

Molly is 5 and still has that high pitched bark when she has a squirrel spotted in the tree. Really annoying.

HHMM Max has a very low bark like a humanoid base voice. He barks to communicate the following:
Thanks Mummy for that lovely treat (dinner, bone, dried liver, bread etc)
Please I need some water (the second his water has run out) don't worry happens rarely
Hurry up my walk is due, when he knows I am getting ready and maybe I am faffing around a bit

Otherwise, when I return home and he is outside waiting for me he whelps (high tone screeching like a kiddie having a tantrum)

I love his low bark, he sounds like a 6 foot bear not a dog!

Bo has the low bark too. The few times he's out of his crate when someone comes over, it's like he's pretending to guard the house -- "I don't really want to bark, but perhaps this will make whoever is coming in think twice -- woof! -- there done my job!"

All of mine allert when someone is in the yard or coming by the house. Especially the neighbor. Hunter will hear him come down the road at night and WOOF then it's ok hunter it's just terry. Woof again it's ok. Then a pause then grrrrr wooof etc. finally he will stop but it is quite comical.

Molly can be real tough and go barking to the door when she is startled by the doorbell. However one only needs to look at the wiggling butt and wagging tail to know that all the barking is just an act.
