Bo will turn 8 months this week. So far in the the past week, he has chewed through 2 wubbas, a tug rope, 2 footballs and a couple squeaky toys. When we manage to get the destroyed toys away from him, they are soaking wet with slobber. Could he be teething again?

I'm not really too concerned about the destroyed toys, just want to make sure this is normal at this point in his life :)

I don't know if he is teething or not, but my Daniel is 5 years old and he goes through about the same amount of toys when I let him have them. :D

Mine too. The pups are over a year old and last night Doddi destroyed on of my nice leather dress shoes. They still shred all the toys if we aren't watching them. My only concern is with Mocha, sometimes she will hold a toy and just bite and bite and whine while she is doing it? any ideas?

Okay, so my mommy will quit worrying and just accept that it will be expensive to keep the boy in toys. Good thing we both work. :)

(BTW, we got him a kong football, kong treat bone and a rubber tire last night ... all are BIG hits!)

I noticed Bo whines while he's chewing on toys if he's not getting the result HE wants, ie. destroying the toy :)

Wait until you hear this one Gunner, 5 months old, has been so good, only chewing on his toys, until today when I caught him on the stairs, so he could reach the bear mounts rear toes, well it wasn't the first time because when I went to check it out he has [ the bear ]  NO TOENAILS, YEECKS!!! My hubby is gone hunting for another week but then I will have to break the news, GULP, some of the toenails were already coming off just because its been moved through 3 states & about 7 times. He shot it in the 70"s so its pretty old but I still think he will be pretty mad at him. I really watch him close so I have no Idea when he did it before. I just hope my new leather couch isn't next

Have you tried any Nylabones? We have them all over the house and they haven't been able to destroy those.

Bo is just soooo not interested in his nylabones. We have two and even with peanut butter on them, he's not interested once the peanut butter's gone. The kong bone that you stick cookies in the end seems to hold his attention well.

We've found that bully stick's AKA bizzles are the best thing that keeps Kota's attention for a good 45 minutes.  They stink like nothing else & are totally disgusting but he love them!  We also got some dried chicken that is wrapped w/ dried pork & those do the trick, too.  He has absolutely no interest in Nylabones either.

Oh ya ... Bo loves his bull pizzles. The only problem is they make him fart!

My boys love their Nylabones (not the rubber type ones though). Here is Gunther with his (and Jakes's) favorite. It is the "puzzle bone" but they are discontinuing it.

Well duh! If dogs love it, why would they keep making it

We got Bo a Kong bone which he really loves, especially stuffed with cookies and peanut butter.

BTW, Matt, Gunther is a beautiful dog. I love the picture of him staring out the window!

Gunther is a great looking dog! Do you have any pics of his whole body to show? My dogs like the rawhides. That is the only thing I have found that they like and will keep them busy for a while. The girls devour theirs so much faster than the boys. Not sure why? They won't touch nylabones either.

Hey Alice, I should have mentioned I loved the innocent little pictures of Gunner after chewing the toes of the bearskin. Ewww!

My brother has a collection of stuffed and mounted ducks and his dog ate all the feathers off the side of one. Now the naked side has to face the wall.

My first GSP was 9mths when we got him and he went through an intense chewing spree for a couple weeks (we assumed teething of some kind) He would destroy anything in his reach....but after he was fine....*laughs* and after he wouldn't hardly ever chew on anything...not even toys.

When Molly was a puppy she destroyed 2 $75 TV remotes (the second one we had for only 15 minutes), a cell phone and every oven mitt, pot holder and dish towel we had in the house. We used my husband's welding gloves to take pans out of the ovens. (They are also great for handling bad tempered iguanas.) Now she is great about not destroying anything of ours---just one of her toys now and then.

Thanks, Gunther is a beautiful looking dog!! Face stripe and all. I love the stripe on Hunter like that. Kind of like a gun sight right down their nose!
