Thought you would all enjoy photos from the babies first training day. We took our two girls out to have their first live birds while we were up in Flagstaff. There are more photos on the web at http://www.desertrosekennel.com/willow_litter_08.htm but I pasted in a few favorites.

All ears at this age!

Crap, I think it's dead...

Gretchen digging a hole to hide her bird from her sister...

Ellie hates the whole chain gang business...

Gretchen's first point.

Too cute. They look like they had a great time except for when on the chain gang. LOL

Actually I was impressed how fast they accepted and quit fighting the chain gang. It was maybe 5 minutes of jerking and whining, which is far less than most pups I've seen. Of course, they still try to work the "Jedi mind trick" on you - staring you down hoping you'll come release them

Great pictures! Is that Ellie in the red collar? She looks ready to take off in that first picture :) Looks like they loved their first bird day!

Yes it's Ellie in the red collar with the "bat ears". I realize I'm biased, but I think she's going to be just gorgeous when she's grown. Our friend Tina took some even funnier photos with her vey nice camera but my computer is not happy with the format, hopefully I'll be able to post those too. Ellie is the FASTEST pup I have ever seen at this age - straight line running anyway. Gretchen is more maneuverable - she runs and corners like a rabbit. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this age and watching them learn as they are exposed to birds.

I'd say I have to agree with you on the Ellie thing! She is gorgeous already! I love her big liver patches and that white splash down her nose... it's very distinctive! I really love that picture of her on the chain gang... with that worried wrinkled forehead... Murphy does that look (intentioneally of course) and it melts my heart every time :)
Oh who am I kidding... they are all heartbreakers!

I love Ellie too. Are you going to also try to show her in the breed ring? She is a very nice looking girl and I love the expression in her face.

She sure will. Ellie too although of course I didn't have the stupid camera when she pointed.

Gretchen is a spitfire, does everything with gusto. I was also impressed with how far they would range away from us. Very good indications for field trial potential!
