Hi everyone, a friend is a Canadian resident and has FCI and CKC registration. He says he can not get AKC registration. Does anyone know why or how to go about getting AKC registration? Thanks in advance, Francine

Francine, I'm in Canada and my dogs were CKC registered first and with the exception of my puppy are also AKC. It wasn't a huge deal as I recall simply send in the CKC registration certificate, a certified pedigree and some photos and a fee of course. Gail thank you, this is what he told me: I was told from Canadian Kennel Club regarding its registration that is impossible without some special committee c/w 3-(CKC or AKC) judges and a dog must be 1 year old (min). He does NOT have CKC registration.He has FCI and NAVHDA. Can't he register with his NAVHDA registration? Sorry for the incorrect info on the first post. Francine

Sorry, Francine. I couldn't say.... It seems to me that the AKC has some kind of reciprocal agreement with NAVHDA. I found this on the NAVHDA site under registration policies and procedures, The North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association registration documents are recognized by the following registries: * American Kennel Club Web: www.akc.org Phone: (919)233-9767 I know a friend of mine who imported a DK from Germany 2 years ago is having trouble getting her CKC registered. The male they imported 4 years ago is CKC registered so I'm not sure what the issue is this time. Gail

Thank you. I think the AKC will accpet NAVHDA and then CKC will accept AKC. Maybe it will work. Thanks again, Francine

It should work that way. CKC does not accept NAVHDA directly. It's an expnsive business all these various registration bodies..... Good luck to your friend, Gail
