Haven't gotten my copy yet but got a call from one of my owners to pat us on the back today.

According to what he told me in the current issue of the Shorthair News this is the current number one open gun dog in the country as of their press date.

FC Rincon Slick Runner

FC Rincon Slick Runner

For those of  you who know his history I'm sure you can understand what a tremendous feat this is for him.

No parent could ever be prouder of their two legged kids as we are of him.

The amazing part of it all is how he managed to accomplish this in so few trials over the last six months or so.

When he got ready to win, he just did it.  Again, and again, and again...

What a nice retirement present.  We will no longer run him other than maybe an occasional limited stake just to keep him from feeling left out and to keep him in tune for an annual trip to the nationals.

He's given us so much from a very humble start.

Big Congrats to you.

I do not know the story behind him - can you tell us?

Are you still going to Flagstaff?

Not to hijack your thread , but on the same page as the Open Gun Dog rankings (in the Shorthair Journal) are the Puppy/Derby rankings.  The number 7 and 8 dogs are from my last litter.

Thanks everyone.  Yes Bullett is the dog that finished in SA.

TC when your dogs are finishing that high in the standings they ARE doing the bragging for you.  Congrats to you and Rick both.

Rick are they pups out of Dixie?  Not a more honest "real birddog" out there than she is and I have no doubt that her pups are the same.

It's always great to see your hard work payoff that way.

I'm just feeling like a 4 yo kid in a candy store with a brand new hundred dollar bill right now I guess.  I was ecstatic when he made the top ten last year at the same time but being as new to the sport as I am this is the first time we've ever had a number one anything HA!

I just learned from John Sullivan in Oregon,  that one of  Bullett's daughters (Litter mate to my dog Trouble) who's barely I think 18 mo's old won a 27 dog AGD this weekend and took second in a 17 dog Open LGD stake.

John's a pretty modest guy so I'll do the bragging for him.  He's done a phenomenal job of putting a total of something like 9 open and amateur points on that dog in one season of trailing starting when she was under a year of age.   I wish I could go spend six months watching him start dogs; the man is an absolute GENIUS!

You're right, but so far I haven't been able to teach the dogs how to use the computer  Just for perspective, Terry has finished something like 100 FC's and 20 Dual's (Terry (or his dogs ) can provide more accurate numbers)

Again, congrats.
