We just got back from the Lone Star GSP Field trial. It was my first time running my bitch in any kind of  gun dog stakes.(AM. Gun Dog)We didn't win but she did make it around without getting picked up.With 7 finds and one honor we made the call back. She took 2nd. It was the best call back I have seen. All the dogs held steady and shot out and back with there bird.I was watching the winner dog in his brace and just knew he was going to be the winning dog.I got to see all the braces of the call back dogs and anyone could have been the winning dog.

Congrats to Ted and Paige.  I got to see their call back and they did an awesome job.  It was a tough competition with lots of nice dogs, so you guys should be extra proud.

Taking second on your first time out in a broke dog stake is something to be very proud of - congratulations!

Wow, that is great, Congrats!
WR, have you seen a guy named frank and a Brit named Boz down there, I think he has run in OK a few times and TX maybe a few times. It is a client and dog that I put a ut prize I on last fall, he is getting him ready for the invitational, but is darn close to finishing him as and AFC and I think not to from from FC.

Seen him, been braced with him, and have judged him.  Boz is quite a dog.  He won a 3 or 4pt (can't remember for sure) AGD stake with me juding at one trial, and he's placed a total of 2-3 times when I was in the saddle.

He's got a few issues, but overall he's one of the five or ten best Britts I've ever seen.

LOL, I tell his owner that his biggest problem is his owner! I was wowed by him when his owner ran him in a test, when he asked me to work with him and ut test him I was pretty happy. Honestly the best brit by far I have seen as far as navhda goes, you should see that little shit in the water.
I know he injured his foot, but coming back up here to work on some backing before the invite, he is a fun dog to work with and I get a kick out of his owner.

He's the second best britt I've ever seen over all. My wife's is the first, and not because he's my wife's HA! He's actually the reason we got married, we met when I was judging him.

I talked to Frank last week. Boz's foot is on the mend. I'd done a good bit of work helping him with backing a while back. Apparently it stuck because he took him to another trainer who is local there in Edmond to see about it a week or so back and he remembered it.

Going to be a very special dog. He could very well finish both his VC and AFC this year. I wonder just how short the list is of dogs that have ever accomplished that?

The list of Britt's to have earned both titles in a lifetime I bet will fit on both hands.

I think all of Frank's best "dog friends" agree he got a lot more in that dog than anyone deserves for their first "birddog".

Funny story about the wife and the dog!
Boz always backed for me, kind of a respect thing, but he was always steady for me too after our first few days together, so it is there, just needs some polish put on it, and Frank to stay on him.

Only one FC/VC shorthair, might be and afc/vc or two, but am not thinking of any right now. I have a bitch with a vc and some ft points she would be the first bitch gs I believe if I took the time to finish her, I guess I should.
There are no brit vc/fc, there are only a handful (I would have to check, but maybe 5 or 6 vc brits total). That is what makes Boz such a special buy he really excells in the water, which is usually where they tend to be weak.
I tell him that all the time, to enjoy it! Did he tell you he tried to return him to the breeder when he was a pup! LOL, kills me!
Sorry for hijacking your thread, I will shut up now!

I've always been one of Boz's biggest fans. I couldn't believe the first time I saw those two together. Here is a total newb, doesn't have a clue about bird dogs and he has this dynamite little dog. The amazing thing is there is no quit in either of them. As a friend I'm very proud of both and nothing would make me happier than to see Frank put both titles on Boz this year.

Congrats to Frank and Boz,

Terry
