I didn't feel so confident being my 1st event but Buddy thought otherwise.  Saturday, did well, had 2 points, he caught 1 bird I thought, oh boy please don't play keep away, thankfully he came to me with the bird, he handled great, the judges dinged him on trainability? Pass

Sunday, I again thought he did awesome, 3 points, one bird broke on us before I could get as close as I wanted, fired the blank, the judge said he did fine.  He had a running partner today that was chasing him and wanted to play, they had one collision, Buddy stayed focused and wanted to hunt. When we got to the birdfield I put some distance between us and it went well. Pass

Here's a few pics of an attempted stack, probably did it wrong but wanted to give it a try. Overall I thought the judging was pretty tough.

Zimbass, Congrats on Buddy's 2 legs towards his JH !!! Your stack was pretty good, but next time try not to place his back legs too far back, but rather make sure that his hocks are perpendicular to the ground. I think he is a good looking dog, I love his dark pigment, and his dark liver color

Woohoo!! Congratulations.  I know how excited you are.  When is the next Hunt Test you can enter?

I was going to say the same thing as lauralee, don't stretch his back legs out quite so much.  Still a pretty good stack and a great weekend with two qualifying scores.

Yea, I thought the same thing about the stack, anyway our plan was to test next weekend, but the judges got me thinking we need more training? I was somewhat confused with the scoring in certain categories, when I felt Buddy handled like a high dollar sports car with minimal direction, I was for sure we scored high in that area, he had points taken away. Anyway I think were testing next weekend, it's a great time for the both of us, pass or not we learn something everytime out.

Were you guys at the Wilmington HT? I almost came down to run Stella in JH. There are a couple of HT's coming up at Cardington this Spring. Maybe I will see you there. Good job and I am sure Buddy is ready for more HT's.

Yes Bruns it was in Wilmington, wish ya could have made it, turned out real nice weather and all, the amount of dogs entered was down so it went real quick. If I don't go next weekend to Indy, I'll see you at Cardington.

Buddy got his 3rd pass today at an Indiana test, the wind was blowing and it was starting to rain, I felt we were running out of time and he finally found and locked up on a bird. After that, he and his running mate locked up on the same bird, they both held steady to flush, they looked great together.
Hopefully we get thru Sunday with a pass.

Congrats, hope you got that last leg today.  We are done with Hunt Tests in our area, so I have to wait until Fall for Ringo's last leg.  He is now with a trainer.  The plan is to actually have him ready to go for his Master Hunter for Fall so I may actually skip the final JH leg and SH and go to the MH when we have some more Hunt Tests.  We'll see how he does over the summer.

Congratulations again.  I know that feeling when time is running out and you are praying they find a bird.
