Does any one else have fun with their dogs with a laser pen. I was originally playing with our cat but the dogs started going nuts trying to catch it. LMAO. Now when it is hot out in the daytime I will take them out at night and let them chase it around the yard. They point it sometimes and hold point until I tell them to GET EM and then we are off to the races. Great way to exercise the heck out of your dog without the worry of heat exaustion. Maybe I am just crazy but it is lots of fun and they love it.
Chase loves the laser. He has run into the back fence a few times while trying to get it. He also goes after my daughters light up shoes at night and he too goes on point over it. Its' too funny to watch.
I know it is so funny! It is like a tradition now. They wait for it to get dark and all of a sudden they will all get up and start whining. They even start to spin waiting for me. I open the door and they hit the ground and whip around wiggling so much they look so funny. Stud always lays right down and looks like he'll bend in half he's so excited. I love it, they love it and they get good exercise too!
My youngest, Halo, goes nuts for the pointer. My oldest one likes it, but is not as excited by it. We found out they liked it when we were playing with the cats. The first thing we knew the cats were sitting on the bar watching the dogs play with the pointer. Halo though gets a bit neurotic about it. My husband says it is like cocaine for her. We have to use it very discriminately or she will be sitting in front of the drawer where we keep it.
When I first started showing Halo in the breed ring I had a hard time finding the right bait. Food didn't do it for her. So, now I use the laser pointer. Works like a charm. She will hold a stack forever as long as I have that pointer. She also will do anything I ask her to do as long as she gets to see the "red dot." That is what we call it and she knows the name. By the way she took Best of Breed at the Belton, TX show this weekend. The judge got a real kick out of the laser pointer as bait. I also found out recently that her Aunt was baited with a laser pointer to her CH as well. So, maybe it is in the genes.

First of all congrats on your girls win! I had the same thing with these guys too. Mocha just gets that look. Like when they are obcessed on something. Belle and Doddi wil just whine and stare at me waiting. I make them chase it at night but only every few days now because it became all they were thinking about. I couldn't even pick up a pen without them thinking Laser! Glad to hear it wasn't just mine!
