All -  The GSPCA has now put together a website where you can get information on auctions and how to donate to assist the 75 GSPs rescued in Missouri.

www.gspca.org/Rescue/missouri75.html

You don't need to be a member of the GSPCA to help or access this site.

Thanks for anything you can do to help these dogs.

So sad! The videoa are definite tearjerkers. :( I had just bought a bunch of books online before I popped in here, so I made sure I donated an equivalent amount to PAWS to help them (and alleviate my slightly guilty conscience at being so frivolous!). Of course, I did it through iGive, so at least I can also say that a portion of my frivolous purchase went to GSP Rescue New England as well. :)

New update on the MO 75:

As of yesterday, all of the GSPs have been spayed/neutered. The last round of de-worming is now complete, but made for a 12-hour day of cleanup!

There has been an overwhelming response in the local community, and many who love the breed have shown up to volunteer, clean kennels, meet the dogs, and request adoption applications. So far, they have 13 very solid applications, and 10 that are good. All will be interviewed, home visited, etc., over the coming week. So, in addition to cleanup and care duties the Midwest PAWS folks will have their hands more than full. Many of their former adopters have offered to open their homes to a foster, so it appears that many of the dogs will remain local for placement.

They have been observing the dogs all week with many different people. Some volunteers have brought their children in to visit with the dogs as well. The dogs have had lots of outside playtime in the fenced yard. It has been a true blessing to have a place where they can burn off some energy. In addition, they have been trying to feed most of the dogs as a group, to observe behavior. There has been no food aggression noted, which is wonderful, considering they often went without food for long periods of time in the past. Also, they play as a large group, and there has been no dog-dog aggression.

Yesterday, Brianna was interviewed by the local Fox affiliate, so I’m waiting to see if the video will be posted online. If so, I will post to the group. This afternoon, they will be doing a major fundraiser, thanks to the folks at Red Robin restaurant. There are six Red Robins in the metro area, and today, starting at 4 p.m., a portion of their proceeds will be donated to the Missouri 75 fund. Midwest PAWS volunteers will be onsite with information and photos, and hopefully they’ll be able to recruit some new volunteers as well!

So, we have been referring to them as the MO 75. There were 75 GSPs on the property. However, in actuality, only about 66 arrived at the holding facility. There are still 8 – 10 more GSPs that remain on the burned kennel property. The Dept of Agriculture was not able to corral them during the 3-day confiscation. Food is being left out, along with humane traps. Neighbors and Dept of Ag officers are checking on the situation daily. As the dogs are rounded up, they will be transported to the current holding facility. I will keep you posted on this. I hadn’t updated the group of this fact yet, as we weren’t sure they were GSPs. But, Brianna has been told the remaining dogs are GSPs, but so far, the attempts to capture them have been unsuccessful.

Brianna is going to take some photos today, so I’ll be updating the website, and will send out notification when I have received and posted them.
